I have a 87 t2 and my dad and I are going to overhaulin the engine and rebuilding the stock turbo at the same time. I've searched a lot online to find where to get the turbo rebuilt for cheap but cant come up with anything. I remember seeing something on the forum that showed how to rebuild it myself but cant find it anymore. If anyone has any good info that would be greatly apprecated.

Any t3/T4 rebuild kit works if memory serves me correct (so long as you get the carbon seal and NOT dynamic). These can be had on ebay DIRT CHEAP. As long as none of the wheels are damaged then this is all you'll need. Just be carefull not to damage the wheels and to mark how the compressor is clocked/positioned on the shaft, so when your reassembling it it will will be in the same spot for balancing reasons.
