I think he is after the thick steel stuff. It's about 3/16 thick, and is used for turbo header construction. A place that sells gas pipe fitting supplies should have this.
Maybe a place that sells to contractors.

321SS and Inconel are good for manifolds, too. 304SS is said to crack, however.
