on the track he will probably never be bellow 4,000 RPMS anyway so it doesn't really matter all that much. Unless he is on a really low speed track, but from the looks of it he doesn't like those

the car actually belonged to Fabian (foko on the forum), he road tracked it in northern cali, i flew there to test drive it and purchased it as a dedicated road track car. hi original selling post can be found here, its lists the mods when i got the car, i have since done some thigns:

really, ...obvioulsy you have not been in the car with me when im on the track :-)

actually you are mistaken i am on the gas very early, before the apex most the time, but you only hear it when im past the apex because i roll it on smoothly, so im not at WOT till im shooting out of the turn...wiht a turbo that spools as quick as the apexi (and same size tires front and rear) you can spin the car easily if you stomp the gas too soon.

keep in mind i was only running 11-12 psi, so i was only at 320 rwhp maybe, that not too much power concidering the cars I was 'playing' with :-)

but hey im open to any advice ...ill try that next track event (hehehe)

r85 for road racing....not running any high boost crazyness, just wanted reliable power with low heat.... a bigger turbo can help to meet that goal

i did over 25 events last year and will probably do the same this year :-) so yeah, im still doing it :-)

hehehe, i eat most z06s for breakfast, actually its usually not even a comparison, however i have 2 good track buddies that run z06s (some modded, some just with track tires) and they are very skilled drivers, so i cant match their driver skills just yet, and z06s are impressive track cars.... but ill get them eventually :-)

>>his car never gets squirly or a bit out of control he has room for improvement and that is one place to start.

that is EXACLTY what im trying to avoid.... the MOMENT you start to slide or get 'squirly', you are going slower, you want to be right ont he edge of that and its very hard to find that edge... and i dont need to fidn it any time soon as both my car and myself are more important to me than impressing anyone at the track or in this forum :-)

now, if i had 4 track fds to smash up and funding from a sponser and not outa my pocket , then yeah...i would 'push' a little harder :-)

>>nice car but thats hot laps not racing

yes, and yes.... what i do is HPDE events, not racing, and they are really uncomparable. althogh i may be w2w racing very soon ;-)

and yeah, I do need to get a full cage in it soon. it does have a 4 point kirk roll bar, so at least its somthing

the funny thing is that my car is safer than 80% of the other cars at the HPDE events.... so ....there ya go.

Secondly I was going to say, that if he's not independantly wealthy, and can just buy another race prepped RX-7, he'd be wise to take it a little conservative in the turns, he's not trying to qualify for the 24 hr. @ Le-Mans, so why risk loosing the car in a turn, and smacking into a wall ? And possibly loose his life, he's having fun, and sharing his experience, because he has a business that does, video production from what I understand, and this makes it easy(er) to get the proper equipment to make it look fun, and edit it down properly to make it interesting.

you hit it on the head man!!!! especially this statement:

booyaa...

im am not a wealthy guy, i just work hard and reward myself by playing hard.... my company does internet development and multimedia, thus the fun track videos and i obviously have full access to the cameras and editing programs.

intercooler was from pettit i think, but it was kevin wyums ASP large design (same thing and a mazdacomp radiator, i also run evans coolant at ZERO pressure (and im sure it has saved my engine once)

my car runns pretty cool, oil temps stay in check and coolant temps stay in check.... i look at the consistency to gauge its colling system health.

exaclty, :-) lag isnt too much an issue because of the higher rpm range while road track driving, and yeah, i do like the 'big' tracks, but this car does hella well ont he smaller road tracks cuz it handles like a friggin go cart!!! :-)

if you are on the gas when you say you are then thats great and im mistaken. and now that we know you were only running low boost the vid is more impressive. i wasnt trying to bash you i just felt that i couldnt really hear you getting on the gas very soon and i thought it may help you to be more conscious (sp) of it next time youre on the track. dont take it as oh your car sucks, but i honestly feel that from watching the video you could be on it sooner. i do understand the fact that you dont want to over push your car, many of times you have to lose it to understand you and your vehicles full potential. i also understand how you wouldnt want to put your car into a wall, i cant blame you for that. i am a very competitve person and when i compete, whether its friendly or not, why not give 110%, why not strive to do your best and kick everyones ***....and thats why i would rather put a kart into a wall then my fd and why i probably shouldnt put my fd on a track. ok now that ive blabbed on for way to long, do you hit any of the tracks in the midwest area??
