Good point, I just figured since he had so much else on that car he'd have some fancy boost controller like SBC-ID, AVC-R or other such digital unit.

BTW, i have a t-78 and i've been controlling boost by adjusting the wastegate spring and i'm tired of crawling underneath car. So i'll probably get a controller soon. Does the profec b have more than one setting, like a low boost and high boost setting.

Yes the Profec B has 2 settings. It is a pretty simple boost controler with no gimics, but is suppsoed to work very well.

I hated my Profec B til I plumbed the WG back to the DP.

Before I did the exhaust work I counld not control boost well. CREEEPED LIKE CRAZY. I tried everything! But the creep stopped when I plumbed the WG back to the DP...

You can actually have three boost settings with the Profec-B, turn the unit off and you run whatever pressure the waste gate spring provides. Turn it on and you have two active boost settings. Another nice feature that I use is the wireless remote switch that mounts nicely to the steering wheel. At the touch of a button you can switch between the two active boost settings. I run 9-10 PSI on the waste gate spring, 12-13 PSI on my low boost setting(95% of the time), and 15-16PSI for my high setting.
I have also plumbed my waste gate exhaust into the main exhaust and it did improve the boost control accuracy for me as well.

Right now I'm running my XS T04E with the AVCR & it works good except for one thing. I have it set for 1.00 kg/cm2 (14.22psi). Half the time when I go WOT it boosts to only about 11-12psi. The other half of the time it boosts to the desired setting. Duty cycles are set between 35-55%. Does anyone know why it does this?

Actually, I just found out that the sbc id does use a solnoid. I think the only controller that uses a stepping motor is a profec a

The Profec B uses a stepper motor, I don't know for sure but some of the others probably do also.

Well, you might be right, I assumed it was a stepper motor because the instructions referred to it as a motor (see attached), of course this could be a typo. I couldn't find any specifications that indicate which system is being used, but honestly I don't think it really matters so long as it works .
