Question What would it take to beat a 2000 911 turbo in a 88T2

I'm just wondering how much $$ and how many mods it would take to beat this kid who's daddy bought him a 2000 911 turbo. Its all stock and automatic (man they are sweet). I read that they run low 13's stock. He thinks he's the sh*$ and I would love to beat him in my 88T2.

beat him how?

anyway he probably can't drive and you could beat him in anything more powerful than, say, a Chevette.

well from what i know of the porsches the turbo awd run about 4 flat to 60 so nless you get around 400rwhp and a world of traction you aint gonna get him cause they run a whole lot faster than that inthe quarter. the non turbo version will run a 13 second quarter. buyt iff you add a hundred hp through a turbo or twothe quarter times drop dramatically

He most likely can't drive is my opinion. If we are talking from a stop and going a straight line, the auto will give him a huge advantage as there is nothing he would be able to do unless he doesn't step down all the way on the gas - fairly brainless work. My wife's 420 hp RX-7 would have a hard time with my 2001 911 Turbo (6-speed). I would say to race him from a rolling start of something like 55 mph up to a conservative speed.

****, take him to the auto-cross and then you have a fair chance!
The 4-wd takes some work to have it work for you.

good racing!

Thanks guys. I think after some heavy mods I'll race him from a rolling start... we'll see what happens
I'm also looking into getting a t-78 put on. With that and FMIC,boost cont.,waste gate, intake, exhaust, bov, maybe nos... Would that help??

Well i don't think greddy makes a t-78 kit for a 2nd gen,but if you want to beat the **** out of this 911turbo this what you should get,a HKS mainfold with a 60-1 or 62-1 ball bearing or none, greddy FMIC or HKS FMIC and for fuel a nippon denso high flow fuel pump get your injector's blue print and balanced and leave your primary's at 550cc and get your secondary's 720cc and you can adjust your fuel cruve with a Apex-i S-AFC,and a fuel pressure regulator from SX or Sard they are both good.and make sure to get rid of all that e-mission control crap .,oh yeah don't forget your going to need a exhaust system like racing beat and a MSD6a,that should all work well for you.

Hey if he wants to race I would race if it's for money ,in my 2nd gen, beacuse i would surly him all day long and any other porsche .....Hey if you got any other ? you can e-mail and i'll be glad to help you..

Thanks MASRX13BREWST,
My mechanic Troy said he could do a custom t-78 w/ all of the goodies for about $4,000. I figure that the kids got one of the faster cars in Jacksonville, but the only one that talks mad smack...(thats why I wanna smoke him!!!)
I'll definately be asking you some ?'s in the near future thanks again.

You'll really need to get a Haltech or Wolf standalone unit if you want to run that kinda hp. S_AFC fuel computer bandaids arent going to cut it and you WILL blow your motor up.

Also, if you have alot of miles on your motor (more than 100k) expect it to give out soon after you add all the hp.

Persoanlly, i would go with a BIGASS to4 with a big hot side, a partial BP's 13b, and all the mods to back it up.

Ever heard of a turbine engine? Sure you'll beat him but better make sure nobody's behind you when you decide to take off

This morning on my way to class I pull up to light outside my neighborhood right next to the kid(guy) in his 2000 911 non-turbo(hehe) porchse. I roll down my window and ask what he ran at the track. He still had the numbers on his car from the previous weekend... Anyway he said he ran low 7's in the 1/8th and his worst time was in the mid 8's. Crap!!!! My friends camera z-28 and my other friends 3000gt vr4(running stock boost) could only run low 9's at the same track.(jax raceways is only an 1/8) damn can I still beat him with some of the mods listed above?? I don't see why I couldn't but I know he'll kill me off the line.

The 911 na off the line is quite easy to launch - as long as you don't get wheel hop. If he does not have the sport suspension, he will have less wheel hop due to softer springs/shocks. I would still race him though! What better way to gauge what you need to do to your car.

Have fun and play safe.

with the mods that you have listed dont try to race him off of a dead stop. you will want to start at like 40 or 60 oir something cuz he will always be able to out launch you cuz of his awd.

Just race him. From a rolling 35 mph would be great. You pick the finish speed. Should be a good race. Then, 'ya go back, make some mods, and come back and beat him worse than before or now change his tune.

im pretty sure that an n/a 911 auto only runs about a 14 second quarter mile(tiptronic), according to many magazines and the brochure that came with my dads auto 2000 911. they arent that quick of the line. back when my friends s4 was only mildly modded he smocked a carrera 4 and a couple of auto 2000 911's. i say all you need to do is run mid 13's which shouldnt be that hard to take him in a straight line. above 100 or in the twisties though, if he knows how to drive, your toast.
