Personally if I had the cash and a 20b I would go with a t88 or equivelant.

For power and response goals you have set. GT42R will be hard to beat The GT42 would be good also. IF you were looking for more power still GT47 or GT55 but space becomes a issue with those turbo's.

A 72MM to a 76MM turbo in a "Q" trim with a larger exhaust housing (1.32 or larger) should be a good matchup. I would also recomend dual ballbearing.

T-76 with ceramic ball bearing and large (1.32) turbine. You'll spool up around 2-2.5K

^ sorta yes and sorta no...

i've seen gt40's for $600, then i've seen a gt30r for $1500....which one do you think is better for a 20b?

and also, he said more than 450...does that mean 500-550, or 850-950? BIG difference.. i say use the smallest turbo that meets your hp goals, but still gives a little room to grow.

lemme rephrase that...not the smallest, i should have said the most efficient turbo that will make the hp you want.

1.32 will spool up with a street port to full boost by 2.5K. My regular bearing "cheapie" 1.32 hits 10psi in a hurry (~3K) and I'm being really gentle under load yet. Figuring the boost curve and exhaust flow using the turbonetics web site data curves, you'll hit 14psi at 3K and maintain up through 17psi until 7K while maintaining the most efficient bubble of the compressor map.

However, it does all depend upon the port sizing and what HP you are shooting for.

Just out of curiousity, why hasn't anyone posted the T-78 is it because of the exhaust housing and it not being available it anything over a 1.06 a/r?

A 20b will bring a 1.32 to4 on at 1500rpm and run out of puff at 5500rpm.
ITS too small
For your applications a Gt42rs with a 1.15 split pulse housing will bring you 450rwhp on 10psi and have 15psi by 3500rpm(if you want 15psi that its)

A TO4 is way too small for a 20B unless you are running twin T04S's or bigger at least and responsive boost with little top end. Cripes; I know a guy running twin T-60's on a 13B hitting boost at idle but he's setup for drag street racing... For the GT series look at a GT 60 or if you're running big HP the GT70 with a 1.32 or 1.15 respectively.

450 HP...why bother with a 20B then? You can hit that with a T-66 and a 13B... 20B's are for 600+ RWHP so use a turbo that will hit it. The people I know of on here are hitting that with their equivalent T-72's and bigger with street ports, gas station fuel, etc.

Never dealt with T-78 or 88's.
