What turbo should i go with?

Hey guys im looking to go single or possibly upgrade twins. I just wanted to know whats a good turbo that will hit 400+rwhp on pump gas, has decent spool(full boost before 4k) and has a nice *** top end.

gt35r will hit 390 on pump, maybe more.

HKS T04R is nice.

A T-78 might pull full boost by 4000, about 425.

youre a little conservative on the gt35r numbers. i've made 450 on pump with the same compressor with a 15 year old motor that was on its way out.

You can spend all that money on a GT35R, or buy yourself a PT66 turbo and get the same bang for the buck for a lot less.

or if you wanted a turbo the same size as the gt35r, you'd be looking at the PT61.

That sounds a bit big. That is more like 450+ on pump.

450 with a gt35r? What boost is that, like 20 PSI? I have heard numbers of almost 400 at 15 PSI.

How would a t78 compare to the gt40 or r85. If i can reach full boost by 4 - 4.2k im fine. Me and my friends do mostly highway pulls so i want a turbo that really slams you back into your seat and is powerful up top. Where can i get PT66 turbo kit?

I keep hearing people mention the PT61 turbos, what's the website where I can look at them? Thanks in advance.

PT = Precision Turbo. These guys kick *** and customer service is grade A so far with mine. I chated on the phone one day with the owner for about a hour and he seemed to get a real kick out of some rotaries putting down over 500 with his "small" turbos. Most of his customers would be pissed if they only got 500 to the wheels.

They are all kind of big, maybe full boost by 4.5K, all have hellacious top end. Nothing low though.

Not a chance even if you did want one of these. I spoke with Zero R and also Ray Wilson at PFS...GT40R can be ordered, but it is on backorder and they have no date on shipment. Ray said his vendor would take an order though, and that the prices went up to something ridiculous like $1800 just for the turbo.

R85...well, according to Jason at RX7 Store and a few others on here I have spoke with, at least a month + wait on them.

I would say yes, or pretty damn close.

My info, in lamens terms, is that the GT40R was a low stocked product do to the GT35R popularity. As for the R85, the turbo provider for the kit for all intents and purposes, is a slather ***.

So you are asking these questions...do you have all the other required mods for a single that add up to almost an additional $3000?

r85 and gt40r will be tough to get, I hear stories about them taking forever. A T-78 on the other hand should be easy. I have seen 425 at 15 PSI, so I am sure 450 is able to be hit at 17 PSI on pump.

R85 is a big *** turbo, and I have heard numbers of 625 on race gas. Don't know a lot about the gt40r, but I see 425 at 15 PSI. All are good, I would the spooling would go to the gt40r, r85 is a little laggy and so is the T-78.

But if you had to choose Greddy I would say T-88, only spools to full boost about 300 RPMS later but even more hellacious top end. And I am talking 450 at 15 PSI.
