What turbo offers the best compromise

Question What turbo offers the best compromise

I am currently in the process of building an RX 2.

I have purchased a 88 TII block with a hugh extend turbo port in it, and am now trying to figure out what the best compromise would be for a turbocharger.

The car will be for street driving mainly, so I would like the quickest spool up possible, E.G. as little lag as possible.

On the other hand I want the car to be a ***** to the Walls *** Kicker!

My guess is 350RWHP would do the trick, but If I could get 400RWHP without too much lag it would be even better.

2300LBS/400BHP = Big Time Fun

Any suggestions on a Turbo that would fit this bill?

And when I could expect this turbo to kick in RPM wise?

I had a T2 engine in my Rx2 with a highflowed turbo and I think that was plenty for it. I circuit raced it a few times, and it was quite a handfull. The old rx2 isn't the best handler, and there's not a great deal of room in the engine bay (which I think was part of the reason for my overheating problems). I got 180kW at the wheels at 8psi on the dyno. Good luck with it though, I'm going to bridgeport the motor in mine, it's less power but a bit kinder on the drivetrain. Plus they're so fun the drive

Thanks for the encouragement. I am going to go over all the suspension components. Hopefully, with enough modification, I will get it to handle somewhat better than the stock version did.

they can be made to handle fairly well, not as good as an rx7, due to obvious differenced, but still well none the less. A T04/60-1 set up would give you 350Hp at the flywheel with about 8psi (totally safe state of tune) which would be putting very little strain on the engine componentary, when you feel the need for more power you could simple wind it up to 15psi and have the potential for over 450HP at the flywheel - again in a very safe state of tune.

Yeah I like mine, it spools up very fast.... Actually a lot faster than I suspected it would..

dunno about a rx-2, but I just used the stock one on my cosmo conversion. Figured it would be fine, until I wanted ***** to the way seperate custom manifold etc... So far I am very happy...

you'd have to get something made up, there is a number of RX2's running 13BT motors in aussie, workshops there like Pac Performance, Maztech etc would probably have something 'off the shelf' ready to go in. Rice Racing could also hook you up with something i'd suspect

Yah. I actually broke down, and called Australia last night. Mazsport was the company. I am a little hesitant because if there is an issue with the product they are so far away. And shipping is going to kill me.

Anyways Bill quoted me 600AUS for a custom manifold, but had no pictures online. I will check out the other companies that you mentioned as well.

If anyone out there has a line on a turbo manifold that will work in an RX 2. Please PM me or just respond on this thread.
