what intake do you have??

ok, i'm in the middle of my single conversion, i had the crooked willow for my twins. but now that wont work so i am wondering what people are using on their singles, likes, dislikes. there are quite a few to choose from, i'm just trying to figure out the best to go with at a reasonable price. its for the 35/40 kit if that matters. any comments welcome, thanks.
take care,
shaun

i think most people just use a cone filter. thats what i use, thats what everybody local to me uses on their single setups. i dont think a airbox will work with a single turbo...i could be wrong but i ave never seen one with a airbox. either it has a cone filter or it is just open.

I don't have a gt35/40 but I am running a T04s so...Anyways if you want to save money and not sacrifice quality go look at K&N's website and find the size, shape, length, and what not. Then go to paceperformance.com and do a search for the K&N part #. I picked my 4" opening 6" long K&N for $34 no shipping. He had to special order it, but hell, for that price it was worth the wait. Hope that helps a little.

i know some people use screens, i think its kind of wierd. my shop was dynoing Karl martins drag car and decided to take the filter off to "open it up" and actually lost horsepower. kinda wierd, anyway you can organize the air i guess. i am not planning on using a box, definately a cone. i guess i should have specified. but what type of cone filter are you guys useing? i was just going to get a k&n, but there are so many, i dont know if there really is a difference. i am also looking at the apexi, the hks adn and the blitz cones also. the k&n is the cheapest, and worked well for my twins. maybe i should just go with that and be done with it. are any cone filters better than others?

K&N. They outlast foam filters. I like the Apexi filters, but I haven't seen any universal filters that would fit on the inlet of a 4" T04.

now i get it....yeah i use the apexi filter on my single setup..its really nice...i would recommend only getting a K&N style filter...i have heard bad things about the foam style filters... they work great but thefoam dries out and then chunks get sucked into your intake....

oh yeah hers a pic of mine installed

Question....People go to all the trouble to get a nice, highly efficient (ie less heat) compressor installed and tuned on their car......and then draw air right off the radiator. Why?

unless you live in a place where theres lots of dust and crap in the air I think you should probably just leave ir open. Or go with a K&N cause they sound pretty cheap..

Convenience. I know it sounds stupid, but once you have a big front mount IC up there with it's piping, & the radiator is sitting upright there is no way to duct air to the turbo unless it's from straight down, or up. Well the dirt is below, & the hood is above...

I guess one could fab their own IC keeping the turbo inlet ducting in mind, but then again most cars have dual oil coolers so you can't pull air from there. That mans the IC has to get much smaller. To the point where you will be able to pull air from around the end tank, & even then you're going to have a restriction along the side of the radiator.
