What fuel filter is everybody runnning?

I am running into fuel pressure drop , I think I have traced it back to the filter. I removed the stock filter and stock location. I put a BMW filter in it place. I dont think this filter can handle the high PSI of a turbo car?

I moved my stock filter and attached it to the bolt on the gas tank hold down strap right behind the differential. Now it is super easy to replace .

When I did this my 0 boost pressure went up 2 psi, 38psi to 40 psi. Do not know if this was due to a cleaner filter or new location with bigger hoses.

You don't mention anything about your pump. Are you on the stocker?

Here is a look at what I had to do to get enough flow using 2 pumps and how to filter it, Originally I was going to use one mallory external pump, I don't know what it is with all the manafactures of large volume efi pumps, but no one had any in stock, and it was a 6 week wait on just about any pump I inquired about, so for the time being I am going to run 2 walbros. One internally, One externally..
I sumped the tank for an external pump.
Since I have to Y block the system somewhere I decided to go with this filter that will accept two pumps in, and has two feeds out , it flows about 500 lph and is rated to 100 psi for fuel injection, price was good to...

I run a large Bosch filter made for a 80's Audi with the mechanical FI. This filter is good for a couple reasons. The mechanical FI needs clean fuel to work properly so it keeps the fuel clean and it's a big filter to keep the pressure drop low.

I use the NIPPODENSO upgraded pump with stock regulator for my 550/1200 combo.

You can get better pressure/fuel flow by running a heavier gauge wire from the
FP resistor back to the FP. The stock wire drops too much voltage do to it's resistance.

I used to have a K&N stainless steel filter, which was very restrictive, I had to jack up the injector pulsewidth to compensate. Go with Aeromotive filter, which has less than .15psi drop at 200 GPH. As soon as I switched to it, I had to turn the fuel injector pulsewidth way down. I'm running the NipponDenso pump as well, with no issues (stock wiring, 402 rwhp at 13-14 psi)

My relocation:

Removed the metal tube between the tank outlet and the filter, and replaced with hose. Used a longer hose from the filter to the tube going to the engine.

Most people I know run Aeromotive filters and they haven't experienced any problem with them, infact they work good. I still haven't decided on what filter to go with, but mostly likely it will be an aeromotive filter.

I run dual walboro pumps. One pump to each rail. I use earls filters and they work great.

I picked up 2 of those off the shelf of a local performance shop, the counter guy warned me off of those k&N filters as well, way to restrictive for high flow applications, apparently in a blown mustang that filter was good for 300 km,s or aound 180 miles...Mileage may vary with quality of gas.. Probably the filter is very good, just not enough of area of it, for its restrictiveness on higher volume pumps..Max
