In drag race applications you tend to worry about deflection on a lightweight, aluminum flywheel. Also, the greater inertia that a steel flywheel carries helps with a nicer engagement. The aftermarket steel flywheels can take a little more abuse, as can the factory one(as opposed to Alum.). The hard clutch drops are what hurt the flywheel, but, I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you have a reputable aluminum flywheel. If you want to be on the safe side, grab a nice aftermarket steel unit.

Stock Flywheel bro..............

I had a 9 lb SR Motorsports flywheel and couldn't keep the motor in boost between shifts.

I tossed in a stock flywheel and it made a world of differance.

Stock flywheel helped 60 foot better as well.

Thanks guys. I went with the 8.5 back in the day when I was going more for road racing. I always heard the stocker was better for keeping the motor going but [I] was unsure if there was another aftermarket one I should go with..

What clutch did you use with the stock fly? I'm really leaning towards a multiple plate clutch for my next setup. I know that using the factory flywheel you used a single disk...

I think he used the ACT 6 puck as that is what I am going to be running. I had bad luck with a Spec 3+ and 8.5 pettit FW,
