Thanks for the suggestion, but we're addressing using the S300 and will probably stick with it until we have absolutely no other choice.

You've got a 0.98 of the same trim type? Remember, this is a Schwitzer/Triple-K turbocharger and isn't one that Turbonetics stuff works with natively. Are you certain it's a Q-Trim? I'd like to know how you got that put together.

Yes, its a Schwitzer S300 and its a Q-trim. I bought it with this setup, have not changed anything!

Do you want to buy it

That's odd. I wonder how it was made like that. Got any pictures of it? Does it look like the pictures I posted in the Exhaust manifold thread?

Bdc, the turbo guys I deal with are pretty Sharp, I am going to see them on Tuesday, and see what magic can be worked on the exhaust side...
If you need them, here are the turbine specs for comparison.

S300 2.789/3.14
The hks T51 spl is 2.785/3.198
The Greddy t88 is 2.846/3.346
Turbonetics q trim is 2.693/3.111

Thanks alot, Max. I think the issue we're having is the exhaust manifold. I brought it up earlier and then posted on it here in this same forum section. Rice responded to it and says it's a biggie and more than likely the reason why it's taking forever and a day to get the turbo moving.

Boy, it's making some power and moving some crazy air! Compared to his old setup, I had to add 40% fuel for 12 to 15psi across the board just to get the engine in the ballpark where it wouldn't stumble on massive lean burning! :o

Yeah I agree with that, the undivided manifolds just dump the two ports together right out immediatly, and with adding the spacer, I think it kind made the manifold plenum area bigger, probably killing more exhaust velocity, the bridge in the turbine housing probably makes the flow from an undivided manifold a bit tough as well.
My manifold is divided, but seeing as my engine is not finished, I cannot relay the effect of a divided system to you quite yet.
Remember those port inserts that someone made, I think it was Turbostreetfighter, Judge Ito or someone like that, that made some exhaust inserts that dramatically increased turbine speed, that may help as well.
I am going to see what the S200 series exhaust side looks like on tuesday as well , I will try and get some a/r 's and turbine sizes.

It definetly is the "Mother of all Turbos", it would be great if this works, since these turbo's are dirt cheap as compared to the Garrett/turbonetics variants, I can buy a new s300 for less than it costs me to fix a garrett. Max

Yes, I agree Max (on the cost and fixing aspect).

Good news for you -> Tony and I were at Majestic Turbo yesterday asking some questions about these BW/TripleK units and I wound up walking out with several pages of tech specs on these things. If I can figure out how to get the scanner to work, I'll post them up. We already checked into the S200 line of stuff and there's a big gap/difference between them and the S300 (from what we got atleast). The S200 line looks alot like some of the mid-sized TO4's from what I can tell and they're not worth using for a project like yours in my opinion.

Brian,

You have a few very intersting posts going on here. I've been looking at the s200/s300 series turbo's and am intersted in them as well due to the cheap price. Being that my car is a heavy street port/daily driver, and from reading your antic's with Tony's turbo, I was thinking an S200 might be the ticket for me. As I have been told it comes with either a .68, .75 or 1.0 A/R turbine and a 6bolt 4" exhaust? Seems like that would be great for 400HP maybe a tad more and great spool with a divided housing and huge exhaust (ie little back pressure)

What do you think based on the specs you saw? Or should I consider hitting up the S300 with a smaller turbine section?

Well BDC and I got access to the wide band and started tuning it. once it starts spooling HANG ON!!. we only have it tuned to about .8 bar. and I can tell its alot more powerful than my old turbo at .8 bar. the fuel maps had to up about 25% ver the old ones.

will be tuning it up to 18psi later this weekend.

Guys, and especially Maxt, here's a link to the pictures of the new exhaust and most importantly the audio of the turbo. You may want to listen to this. The vids are from today. Crank the audio up.

Started emailing two BW diesel turbo manufacturers today. Found some heat shielding for the S300. Looking into slightly smaller housings for the unit.

Wow, that compressor is really loud, it sounds like its spooled pretty good, but it just may be the sound..
I wouldn't mind a video of the tach and boost guage one a 1,2,3 shift from standing start if thats not to much to ask, just to see what the "lag" from hell is like in realtime...
There is a John deere tractor application that may have a good turbine housing, I am going to look at it next week, apparently, its a "wee" bit smaller than the cummins s300...Max

yeah I also was looking at a john deer exh housing..
they have .88 and .91 one that should fit on a s300.
