Weird choice: Gt40R or twin TD05 16G's

Hy guys,

I'm looking at a weird choice here;

I've been building a custom GT40R (4088R) single kit (custom manifold and new turbo) but just now I found a rare twin TD05-16G kit from Japan. it's used, turbo's are said to be OK but are oil cooled only...

Acc to the seller, turbo's are go around 3500rpm (more or less thesame as the GT40R). So I guess this would be more of a 'cool' factor...

Cost is about thesame...

What do you guys think?

I"m working on a parallel turbo manifold to run two 16G's' at least in the prototype stage. . I say go for the twins. Everyone has a big single now.

I think I've seen pics of this kit before. I wonder which 16G they come with... the Evo III 16G is the most desireable

From the looks of it, the kit isn't quite new. Acc to the seller it was originally a FC kit whic was converted to fit an FD

Both of those choices are most efficient at high boost levels, 20+ psi. A single 16G is usually used on 2.0 liter or smaller engines (Evo, various Hondas, 2.0 liter Subaru) running over 20 pounds. Twin 16G is somewhat common on the Mitsubishi 3000GT/GTO. I had a friend who ran that setup and it screamed. He ran about 30psi on it with race fuel. The GT40 is also another one of those turbos that likes high boost. I wouldn't get either unless you plan on making serious power. There are smaller options.

Ive seen pictures of those twin turbo kits.

Japan2la had one he parted out a while back from a JSpec FC engine. I tried to buy it but someone beat me to it.

If I remember, the buyer put it on his FD and promptly blew his **** up.

I tried to get it from that guy but It was sold before I could buy it.

Anyhoo, I'd rock that twin kit just for the coolness factor - if I could get a hold of one.

there is a twin TD05 Re-A Manifold on Ebay for 900 dollars... The 40R is a good turbo tho.. Good power and everything.. If you havent bought the turbo tho id go with a 8374 EFR borg warner.. Price will be about the same, and you get a bigger bang for your buck.
