it looks lean but there may be something wrong with the sensor to give that reading!

Those wideband is actually around 1 point off compare to the actual reading. I have used the same wideband for years and always tuned it to around 12.0-12.5:1 a/f Even a year or two ago when I was using the same wideband on customers car, I aim for around 12.0:1....

what good does the wideband do you while driving down the 1/4 mile though
not like you'll be able to let off in time if you notice it's lean

Is that a "Bailey" brand AF meter? If so, I can vouch for the fact that they read about 1 full point higher than my OZ DIY Wideband.

Yes thats a Bailey unit that "Jigsaw" uses. I know Dan personally he's always datalogging when driving his race car and playing with settings. He tunes well enough to know what he needs to do to run the numbers he's done already. This year will be a big year for him as he is shooting for low 9s.. I'll contact him and see if he'll chime in on this thread about his video and explain in detail..

Thanks for the input Jay.
I bought the unit 4-5 yrs ago when the FJO and other smaller, more updated units weren't available yet, and it works well, so there's no reason for me to spend the money to change it. I can't change it during the run, but it is datalogged onto the computer during the run just like Jay pointed out, so that I can review it after the pass to make the necessary adjustments. During this run (and some of the other in car videos) the car was running fine. After some time of running, the Bosch O2 sensor gets all "junked" up by the lead in the gas I am using (VP C16 (117 octane)) and it starts to read very lean before it fails completely, at which point, I just buy another sensor to plug into the analyzer. I verified this by using the shop O2 sensor on the dyno the night before because I was starting to worry about a lean mixture due to the failing sensor. Usually, I target a/f at around 12:1. I only wish I could run the car that lean!

I am friends with them, but I use my own truck and trailer setup, always have. Steve Kan is the one who was usually in the trailer with them, among some other cars.

No. The wheels are spinning about 1 revolution before hooking (not sure exactly). Which is what I want, so that I break less parts. I think what you're hearing is the clutch slipping a bit to compensate. I plan on doing some more testing with tire pressures soon.

One thing I will say about most good wideband sensors is that when the O2 sensor goes bad they display a lean condition, which is a good thing! The Baileys is a good wideband, I've used it in the past, yes it's old, BUT it works, and that's what matters. Danny, hit me up on IM man, I haven't spoken to you in a while, hope all is well.
