Wastegates: 50mm HKS racing wastegate or 46mm Tial?

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to order a wastegate for my SR stage 2 with a XS cast manifold. What I want is feed back on bolth units. I've heard a horror story about the HKS sticking shut until 20+psi....but nothing as far as the Tial 46mm. I just don't want to buy a peice of garbage and have to go out and buy anouther one. So any help would be helpfull. Later, CJ

I can't speak about the HKS, but there are LOTS of people using Tial WG's!! They are very nicely machined, great quality, and in my experience very reliable.

I'm using the 46mm WG with my SR Stage I kit

CJ,

I had an issue or two with my HKS unit while on the dyno. Go for the Tial.

different wastegates do have different flanges, research the tial and see what kinda flange it uses....

I'm using the 46mm Tial. Works perfect and I'm using it on a HKS flanged divided manifold, with an adaptor.

Yea the Tial WG will not bolt onto the XS manifold. Im running the HKS standard 40mm WG with no boost prolbems at all.

The Tial 40mm WG I bought came w/ the flange. Most should unless you're buying used. Weld the included flange on your exh. mani and you'll be good to go.

dont get the hks if you use bi state's manifold. the wg is humungo and hangs down 3 inches below the subframe.

I did'nt go with a BI-state kit. I kinda got tired of waiting for pictures of this or that, no one responding to threads etc. I realy wanted to give Eric a chance, but got tired of waiting. Then a thread pops up saying how Eric had'nt shipped this part...its been X amount of weeks and no parts...and that was the final straw. Picked one up locally. CJ

This is the cheapest place I've found.

http://www.boostsolutionsinc.net/supra-wgs.htm

I know its not for a Rx-7....but a wastegate is a wastegate.

Whats the difference between a non SS and a regular racing wastegate? Is it just that one is made out of SS and the other out of mild? Also, from pictures it looks like the bolt pattern is different....

I wonder if Jason would do price matching? CJ

CJ, the difference between the SS Racing WG and the Racing WG is the base flange is "Square" vs "Rectangular", plus the material that their made of "SS" vs "steel". They will not be interchangeable. The WG you need is the regular 'ol Racing WG (50mm).
