Wastegate Question

If I have a 15PSI Spring in my WG, does that mean that my turbo will not be capable of hitting higher than 15PSI?

What I am understanding is it will take 15PSI to fully open the WG, once the WG is fully open, I get no more boost.

Or is it the other way around? It will take 15PSI to close the wastegate, therefore I cannot reach any boost until boost pressure is at 15psi?

Just trying to figure out whether or not I should be getting a new WG spring... and some theory of op for my own personal knowledge.

I'll be using an AVC-R for BC too.

Thanks

15 psi will be the lowest setting you can use. The boost controllers throttle the air to the wastegate actuators so they are seeing less boost than the turbo(s) are actually making and thus don't open the gate.

So this means I can't boost until I hit 15psi?

Haha, need to get a new WG spring eh?

No that means that you will boost until 15psi then the wastegate opens... if you want to run less boost you need a lower wastegate spring. and then it is simple just use your electronic boost controller to up the boost.

15 lbs is the least you can make constantly...obvioously as your boost is climbing to the 15lb make you will be making less, but that is the lowest boost you can hold. Don't think of it as you won't be making boost untill 15lbs...that is wrong....thats like saying with the stock twins you won't be making any boost untill they hit 10lbs. With a boost conroller you will be able to make 15lbs or more...whatever you want. You still need to get a lower spring anyway, just for the beginning period at least.
