wastegate placement

Hey guys, I have seen a few turbo setups that use the wastegate after the turbo where the downpipe is. Majority of them being on the manifold. Is there a big differnce in putting it before or after the turbo?

I was wondering because having it after the turbo would make it a little easier to fabricate another turbo setup

Um, who the **** puts the WG *AFTER* the turbo.
That defeats the whole purpose of having a WG in the first place!

The WG needs to be in between the engine and the turbo, period.

the only thing i could possibly be thinking of is a wastegate to downpipe "dump". some people do this to dump the excess from the wastegate to silence the sound heard of the wastegate. perhaps this is what you're referring to ?

I thought I seen someone with the wastegate behind the turbo, but like RETed said, it would not do a damn thing. Im not talked about it going back into the exhaust system. Stupid post , sorry guys.
