Update!!!! 2nd dyno results!!!!!

Ok I finally got to make a couple of runs tonight on the dyno. Latest results are 648 RWHP and 410RWTQ at 25 to 26psi. The injectors are at 100% again but I believe it's too rich judging by the Egt's. Max Egt's measured at the header were 1200 deg.F and 1050 deg.F at the downpipe. The tricky part is deciding what's too rich or lean on alcohol! Even though the Egt's were that low it ran smooth all the way through the pull. Only time will tell with a little experimenting!
Here's a plot of the run.

RPM...............RWHP........RWTQ
4000...............150............200
4500...............200............249
5000...............300............325
5500...............375............350
6000...............425............370
6500...............480............385
7000...............545............399
7500...............575............410
8000...............615............400
8500...............625............385
9000...............640............370
9500...............648............360
10000.............643............350

good? we need as many fast rotaries there as we can, because those solara's and supra's are getting to fast.
Do you know if Switche's mx3 is ready?

Switchie's Mx-3 is just about complete and has been on the dyno allready. Brendon(PSI Racing) is also ready and should be at Moroso next weekend. There's a match race at Moroso next weekend between Carlos Gonzales(Oky) rx-7 and Alex's(Rosado's Racing) Toyota corolla. Oky did a couple of 4.70, 1/8 mile runs which should equate to mid 7's in the 1/4. Rosoado also just made 910 RWHP with the corolla so it should be a pretty good race.

Well you have to understand his car is a little beyond the typical rx7 lol

He was running low 9's over a year ago. Its not a street car.

Chris, awsome work!!!! I cant wait to hear the final results!!!

you are definately waaay rich! my car likes to be around 850c crossing the line with the probes on the header, so you have a lot of room to play with. isnt it amazing how well it runs even being that rich? Methanol is king!!

I have to agree with you on that also!
It's amazing how the Methanol just absorbes all of the heat out of everything. Even the motor temps. are lower than before.

Isn't it due to the fact that methanol combusts at a lower temperature than 'normal' petrols, therefore the combustion process isn't heating things up as much

Its the latent heat of vapourization, on a v-8 blower application you can run methanol without a cooling system, on a rotary though I am not sure how well the o-rings would take to that...Max

Here is the link. Watching this car launch off the hole in person is amazing. Even my friends that are not into rotaries love watching this car at the track.

Question for you NHRA / Drag racers.....

My car, (street car), I am doing a 20B conversion on it.. I would like to take it to some events, but curious on which events I could run in, and what kinda of competition I would be looking at.

Again, it is a street car with full interior, etc. I still need to put a roll cage in it, and etc.

Thanks,

Mike

go to the NHRA Sportcompact website and the 2003 rule book is there. Lots of things have changed since last year.

Methanol combusts with a significantly lower flame temperatue compared to normal petrol/gasoline, and THAT has equally as much to do with it as the 'latent heat of vapourisation' the methanol is only travelling thru the inlet manifold so therefore can only absorb heat outta the inlet manifold and thru the top part of the motor during the compression phase. i say the lower combustion temp are more to do with the lower temps

Hmm.. So the only NHRA class I can run in for any sort of money values is "PRO RWD" because I have a 3 rotor? Like I could ever compete there....

BUT!

I can run in the IDRC "Street" class, "Quick" class, and "Outlaw" class.

I did read the rules correctly? IDRC doesn't discriminate against 3 rotors. They just mandate weight rules for the classes.

Mike
