Any updates? Will these interally gated turbos have an external dump option?

These kit are the best of both worlds. Fast spooling with lots of top end. And to add on top of that, it looks bad ***!! How many FD owners do you know with aftermarket twin turbos??? And priced around what most single turbo kits sell for.
Does anyone know whether or not they actually have come through with the twin GT28RS disc potato kit? Or any of the other big twin kits that have been talked about?

Are we there yet ............ ??????? , any results with higher boost levels ?

In contrast to Kevin, I think this setup will generate a bit more heat than a single. The “larger surface area to exchange heat” using the twins will also require removal of that heat (exhaust temps to each turbo should roughly be the same as with a single, ceteris paribus). Additionally, since these turbos are roughly 2/3 to ¾ the size of a 35R each, the combined radiant surface area (compressor/turbine housings/downpipes) is greater resulting in higher under hood temperatures.

Back to your regularly scheduled program…

Gene
As a few (or every one , for that matter) may know I am doing a custom twin GT 3071R set up , my plan for the expected increase in heat is a two staged , tripple nozzle water injection system . One small nozzle spraying into each turbos suction , triggered by a preset intake temp. and one large nozzle after the intercooler that comes online based on boost pressure .

18,000 hits on this thread? seems like there is interest in (real) twin turbo systems...

mine has been running for 3 (wisconsin) summers. i have 5000 miles on it and it is my daily driver. i drive it up to my lake home ( 250 miles each way) without a thought. most of the time my windsurfer is on the roof.

it runs like a pussycat and yet has 82 lbs/min worth of compressors on it. two 3 inch downpipes. internal wastegates.

talking w Ari Yellen a couple of weeks ago about it he said. "that ought to have huge top end." coming from Ari the comment was flattering.

and accurate.

i have had 5 sets of turbos on the car. a number of "turbo" people have helped out and we all have learned alot in the process.

Thanks especially to Kevin Draper @ Majestic Turbo

i currently log fuel pressure, 2 egts (thanks Jeff), exhaust manifold pressure as well as all the usual stuff. if you aren't logging the above you are wandering in the wilderness.

i will have it on the dyno before the snow flies and will be happy to share the numbers.

the design objective is PUMP GAS and approx ONE BAR. i am not interested in what it will do at anything above 17 psi. the turbos are happiest at that level and 82 lbs/minute is more than enough to keep on the road... BTW road racing is my game.

thanks to Kevin Wyum who gave me the initial idea. com'on Kev, get it together.

come say hello and see the car, along with the Cool Loovers at the Midwest Rotary Rally at Road America aug 19-21.

Here’s the view most see of my car, notice the license plate..

the engine bay, can you find the second turbo?

I won’t be posting anything further on my twins until I have a dyno sheet. Too many people have put out too much advance twins hype only to disappear.

The concept is valid and a winner.

See you at the MRR?

Damn Howard! Could you at least tell us about the low end performance? How does the spool feel compared to the stock sequecials down low?

If they still testing the twin GT28R on a race port motor is wrong. Why use a motor that is designed for high end power to make a kit for low/mid range power? Or am I not understanding the dyno chart? Because at 6800rpm it was starting to drop

totally agree ^^^

I made a note of this a while back in this thread. Nobody seems to care.

It actually goes totally against what they are building this kit for. Jason keeps saying its gonna have great boost response and be an excellent streetable turbo, and yet they build it on a race ported motor???

At most it should be on a mild street port, not more if they want people to buy into this whole "streetable turbo kit" thing.

IMHO

peace,
-hrach

i think the whole purpose of the twin set up is to reduce turbo lag compared to 1 large single?

at least that was the impression i got in the first 3 pages of this thread.

i would have been interested if it was a sequential kit though.

If you want seq. turbos go with BNR's or TEC upgrades, that's the only way your are going to stay seq. But as this kit making good boost at low end, is good because is on a race ported motor. Put the same twins in a stock port motor and is a different story.

will this kit be able to work with the RE Monster V-mount? if so, would you have to get the single or twin v-mount?

Jason, did you end up using the Garrett wastegate actuators that came with the turbos? Since you clocked the compressor housings, I'm assuming you had to make some sort of bracket to move the actuators. Or are you using replacement "universal fit" actuators?

Looks really nice, btw. Hope the kit will be for sale soon!

Yeah I am really interested in a setup like this. A V-mount with twins . That would be quite a full engine bay.

and what cars will you see on the street with a race ported motor. I would like to see the result on a stock or mild ported.

That guy with the to4s. seems to be keeping something from us. Ill guess 500hp from that setup

Is this only for FD? or for FC also? If I cant get the power levels I want with the turbo I have now (550+whp) Id defintly be interested in a twin turbo setup. Ive been wanting to do this for years.

I'm currently getting a twin t3/to4e and twin core v-mount built for my FD. I just dropped off the engine and am excited about it. Imagine a 99 spec looking FD with a twin t3/to4e, dual 3" down pipes, dual HKS carbon TI exhaust(not sure if anyone has a dual exhaust FD yet), custom twin core v-mount intercooler.
