Turbonetics ex. housing larger than Garrett?

In upgrading my current TO4E to a TO4S I've run into a wee-bit of a problem. HKS cast manifold, .84 (Garrett housing and turbo) TO4E...new turbo is a Garrett TO4S, 1.0 Turbonetics housing. Now I know the 1.0 is larger, obviously.. but it also seems that Turbonetics casts their turbine housing with more space between the exhaust manifold flange and the housing itself. I'm just eyeballing it here and saying there is about a 3/4" to 1" difference in distance off the face of the manifold flange. There is just no way in hell this housing will fit on this manifold, it will clearly contact the frame rail on the passenger side.

So I guess that leaves me needing to replace this Turbonetics housing with an equivalent from Garrett, assuming they aren't identical. Am I crazy or can anyone else confirm this finding? Am I going on a wild goose-chase here and wasting my time?

Very frustrating after waiting two weeks to get the turbo, I could always use the old .84 housing but then what's the point of upgrading!?

Thanks for any help.

That's Turbonetics for you!
I have a Garrett 1.0 and 1.32 and it's just about the same distance out as your .84 housing.
