Turbo upgrade question

I am new to the turbos and havent the faintest idea on which ones are better than the another. So here is a list of my mods so far - {Cats are gone, 720's secondaries, Custom TID, TB mod, Emissions gone, ACV BAV removed, E-Fan, MSD Box.
I still have the stock Turbo and I want to upgrade. However I do not have the money to go so big to warrant a FMIC. Can I find a turbo that will warrant my current Mods and TMIC and also warrant a FMIC in the future?

A FMIC is a very important mod, even with the stock turbo on raised boost levels. The stock IC is just not designed to handle the raised heat and pressures of higher boost levels, especially with the raised airflow of a larger turbo. Plus you are going to need larger injectors all around, and some way to tune them. An S-AFC is do-able, but a standalone EMS is a MUCH better choice, because you can fully tune ignition and timing curves, plus tune injector duty much better than the S-AFC can. Yes, all this stuff is expensive, but it is really the only "proper" way to go IMO. I believe someone was running a larger turbo with the stock top mount IC, but they either had major C02 spray, or converted to air-water.

Rxmfn7 is completely right. I'm running 14.5lbs of boost from my stock turbine and that's PUSHING it for the stock TMIC. Just wait until you have the money to upgrade all of the components needed to safely run the car the way you want it.

Thank you for the information guys. I would really like to do both if the money wasnt an issue. But the reason I asked the question is because my Turbo is on its way out. And if I have to replace soon, I wanted to know what would work with what I got as well as a FMIC.

Is that 14.5 on a stock 88 turbo? Is it by choice or from boost creep?. I have a stock 88 turbo ported but havent tried it yet. It's going to be used for my first gen. I was thinking about buying a better turbo before even trying the stock one just so that I won't have to change downpipe, intercooler piping ect when I upgrade. Just not sure which turbo would be best. BTW I will be using a microtech. Just not sure how much power I want. Since the first gen is lighter I was thinking 300-350 max? It will be street driven, occasional autox or track, never dragged.

Is that with an upgraded compressor (hybrid)? If not I wouldn't push that for long, you will toast your turbo alot sooner than you think, not only are you pushing more heat past 12psi on the stock turbo because it is past the efficiency range for the stock turbo, the seals on the stock turbo isn't made to take that kind of psi.
