turbo stops spinnig at idle
i have a S4 TII with a HKS T04R turbo that seems to work great but i noticed at ide some times the comp wheel stops spinng after a while.. what does that mean? is that normal?
im not too sure as i bought the turbo used from a freind and he said it worked great for him and it works great for me too but it just dosent seem right for it to do that but maybe there just isnt enough exhaust pressure to keep it spinning
No, I don't think your turbo should ever stop spinning anytime the car is running. Exhaust pulses will always spin the turbine wheel, thus spinning the compressor wheel as well. Even if you have a leaking manifold gasket, I would think it should still spin. You might want to pull it off(the turbo) and take off the housings and inspect everything. Make sure there is nothing restricting it from turning. Also, do a compression test.
there is some slight shaft play but i dont know how much is too much. how can i tell? and its a stock port brand new S5 motor..and it idles at 750 to 850..compression is great
