turbo setup help
Hey, this is my first time around here and ive got some questions for you guys.
I just recently installed the hks t04e kit on my 89 t2 and its acting a little wierd on me.
Ive got my bov (hks ssqv) pressure line tapped from the manifold just in front of the throttle body, and it seems to be working ok there but i get this sort of weird sputtering action from the valve with the line placed there. The stock setup had the line tapped from just off of the turbo, but that doesnt seem to want to open this thing up with it hooked up there. Whats the deal with that? So the only thing ive got hooked up directly from the turbo is the pressure sensor and the waste gate, i just can figure out why it wont operate the bov from that spot.
Next big thing, the intake housing on the turbo is pushing up against the lower intake manifold, the headers that came with it didnt move it out far enough from the block so now ive got some pressure on the front housing with this setup. Do you think it will hurt anything or should i put a spacer or something between the header and the block?
Im still trying to be easy on this car until i get a proper boost gauge and an a/f meter installed, so no full-throttle redline runs have been made on it yet. dont want to lean it out and trash the engine.
anyway, sorry if this is a bit lengthy, thanks for any help

Sounds to me like an FD manifold on a Fc..
The bov has to be connected to the rotor side of the throttle butterflies, so it sees vac when throttle is closed. The sputtering sounds odd, I am not sure if that one has adjustable spring pressure? Max

the bov has an adjustable spring on the thing but it doesnt seem to make much difference when i adjust it, the instructions were all in jap anyway. ill try messing with it again though...
