turbo leaking oil
i have a t04s turbo. it is leaking oil into the compressor housing. should this be as simple as replacing an oring? i dont think it started until today. weird. if my oil pressure to the turbo was too great, could it bypass this seal? i only plumbed the oil from the oil pressure sending unit on the block through .25 tubing. there is a reducer on there that i got with the turbo. thanks

No, there are no "O-rings" that seal off the compresor wheel/shaft from the CHRA. Its a dynamic seal, it uses centrifugal forces and pressure from withen the housing to stop oil from leaking in. You either need to rebuild (most likely) and / or your oil system is too much for the turbo. You should run AN -3 or -4 for your supply line and at least AN-10 or 12 for your return.

ive got a 5/8 return which should be -10an right. and i have a 1/4 supply. so that should be same as -4an. pretty sure there is a reducer on there, but i will check. this leaking just started today. and i have no miles on the turbo yet. it was supposedly rebuilt like 12000 miles ago from whom i bought it. i think it originally came from bdc. no quote tho. so i figured it would be good to go. it sprayed out the housing throught the "output"<--terminology? only when i reved a little. never seen it happen before. im not plumbed up yet either so i would have noticed.
i was worried it had too much pressure where i pulled it from. like i said at the pressure sender. and that should be full pressure. i hoped the reducer would be enough.

i also seem to have some coolant or water in my oil. even after i changed it, it seemed to come back. i dont think its a coolant seal problem, because i would just blow smoke. could coolant make the engine miss or give false afrs? or maybe bouncy afrs at idle?
