Question Turbo to large?

Is a T04E with a 60-1 compressor in a .70 housing, the exhaust is a P trim with a 1.15 housing, to big for a street ported Turbo II? What RPM will it spool at?

Thanks,
Chris

Never too large! Seriously, the 60-1 is another one of the ideal compressors for great streetability. Same with the P trim (see the other post with the V/P .96). The 1.15 housing may make it slightly laggy compared to the above mentioned setup, but this is still a nice turbo -- and not getting carried away by any means. What is your intended purpose for the car? Be honest. This is the only way to get useful answers here! My thoughts: great steetable turbo with potential for some fun at the track. If you are looking for a drag racing monster, this is not the one -- BUT it will have a very nice response, and probably surprise you. What turbo are you running now? If you are still stock, this is nice 'gateway' turbo, that will help you slowly get addicted to larger, more expensive turbos that are only useful at the strip!

I think the 60-1 turbo is the best turbo for the street when running in the 15 to 18 psi range! With the right porting I've seen this turbo put out 500RWHP on a 13B without all the drawbacks of running a larger turbo to produce the same power!
For a street car I would not run anything larger than a .96 or an 1.0 divided turbine housing!
ps. My friend's TII ran a 10.36@134mph with a 60-1@24psi way back when the only available larger turbo was a 62-1!

Thumbs up

I plan on using the turbo for mainly street applications with the capability of cranking the boost up to hit the Drags and the Auto-X track. This sounds like it will do the job for all three.

Currently im running a J-Spec turbo, Blitz BOV and J-Spec SMIC with 10lbs of boost. I'm planning on adding a sparco FMIC along with this turbo.

Any recomendations on a Wastegate to choose?

That turbo is a great turbo, make sure you get a good manifold, made by someone like crispeed, that has divided runners all the way into the turbo and both pipes are the same length, you will see great results.

I'm in the GB for the XS-Engineering T04E kit. Both KDR and XS are telling me I should get streetable 400+RWHP with my mods at 15psi.

40mm is sufficient, so find a 40mm or larger one

That is what I like to here about the turbo I just put on my car! I went with a .50 a/r compressor housing with a .81 Tangental turbine housing. I wanted the smaller end housings for quicker spool! I am exited to finally get this damn car going. I am now installing a wolf 3d that I have had for years. All I want is 375-400 smackers to the wheels on pump gas! I hope, I hope, I hope!
later on,
Bryan

On 15psi that turbo will rip!

As for wastegate, the generic Garrett 42mm would be fine for this turbo.

hang on a sec while a remove my blitz BOV and put on a HKS BOV cause it'll make me go faster...............

screw "NAME" brand turbo's go to your local turbo supplier and get a Garret T04. 9 times outta 10 you'll get better performance. oh but i forgot, you cant just bolt it in can you, you have to get some things MADE to fit

I also don't agree with buying turbo kits.. There just to much money for my blood. Plus for the same amount of cash you can get yourself a nice custom exhaust manifold, Turbonetics or garrett turbo, Tial wastegate, custom piping, intercooler, etc... You get the idea.. And the final cost will still be cheaper then buying those expensive name brand ****.
