turbo decision

I have been doing some reading on this forum about singles and im still trying to decide on what turbo to run for my setup this winter. This is for my weekend driver/racecar, so it wont see dailydrving

Motor: halfbridgeport
ecu:pfc
fuel:either 550 primaries or 850, but i think 850 will be better and 1600 secondaries. and most likey a supra pump and a fpr..So basically im going with the extreme kit from rx7store for 625.
fmic: greddy most likely
for turbo, im looking on cheapturbo.com and im trying to decide on either the garrett t4/gt40 blowzilla or the garrett t04s 60-1 with a 1.00a/r . I want to run about 16 pr 17psi on pump and hoping for somewhere around 450hp
ignition..hks or xs from rx7 store
and supporting mods such as exhaust and boost controll and stuff.

Am i heading in the right direction with this? I think i am, but advice or input from smarter members would be very helpfull. With the turbo's i have choosen, will they give me the power i want and not cause me a problem.

thanks for reading
josh

Why go with a half bridge for the kind of hp your looking for? You can get that kind of power from a large street port at ~15-17psi.

PFC will work just fine. However, i'm partial to Microtech!

2 550cc and 2 1600cc injectors will support ~461whp at 85% injector duty. I'd probably bump the primarys up to 850cc.

Your going to be running ~62psi fuel pressure at 17psi of boost. The denso pump is going to be border line. It *should* be ok though. Keep in mind, you can't run the denso (supra) pump at 13.5 volts continuously. It'll burn up very quickly by doing that. If your set on an in-tank fuel pump, i'd run dual Walbro's. (Walbro's can be run continuously at 13.5 volts.)

Alot of track guys like the large SMIC/V-mount intercoolers over the FMIC. If by "race car" you mean a drag car, then a frount mount is just fine. However, the most important thing about the intercooler setup you choose, is having it properly sealed!

FWIW, i'm running a GT40R T4 divided housing. I'd either run the GT40R, or the GT35R T4 divided from A-spec if I was you.

The GT35R (T4 divided turbine housing) should provide you with the power your looking for, and still have GREAT spool up. It's also alot cheaper than the GT40R, and is available at A-spec. As far as I know, A-spec is the only company that offers the GT35R with the T4 divided turbine housing.

The GT40R will yeild more power over the GT35R, but spool up will suffer. Do a search on the GT40R. There's a recent thread in this section about a track guy running it. He seems to love it! Keep in mind, the GT40R is a $2,000.00 turbo, and on back order. I purchased my GT40R through Phoenix Turbo (Cheapturbo.com) about a week ago, and they had 1 left over. They might still have the last one in stock, but you'll have to call to find out.

Almost everyone that's running the HKS has had great results. I'd just stick with it.
