turbo builds boost really really slow

its been an issue for awhile, but being my first turbo car I didnt know.
the turbo gets to 0 boost at about 2,500rpm
but then it slowly spools over the whole RPM band from their taking untell ~5000rpm to hit 12psi.
Im thinking the wastegate might be the problem, a friend has a HKS standard i may try out. does anyone else have any ideas?
i think i should be hiting full spool by at least 3500 with the t04B 1.15 hot side.

Check for exhaust leaks before the turbine. ie gaskets, wastegate etc. Check for leaks on the induction side as well. A 1.15 is not exactly a small housing either so that will contribute some.

yah i know its not a small hot side, but the cold is pretty small. So it seems like it should have a decent spool.

check your wastegate and gaskets first.

does anyone have some tips on how to check the parts IE wastegate. Any help would be welcome before i decide to tear it all down and order new gaskets for everything.

I agree with the others. This problem is indicative of a manifold air leak or an exhaust gas leak prior to the turbo.
