budget single turbo kits



i dunno if this guy is a member of the forum or not..

takes SSAC manifolds, then chops off the el cheapo flanges, and puts thick ones on, and adds supports to them to make it stronger...

i'm not so sure i believe the claims that he stakes... but even if it was a little less not a big loss...


i've never heard of a borg warner Turbo before... (claims better performance then a T-78)



just wondering.. if one would be better of shelling out for this (there's a $1,600 and $1,900 kit) or buying a used one off the classifieds

 

The Borg warner T04 is a good unit, (think transmissions, differentials and various gear cases) just check with him to make sure the a/r's etc are all matched to the engine. since he doesn't (on the main page) state which KKK turbine it is that he uses for the upgraded kit its had to say.

on the subject of the SSAC manifolds, there has yet to be any phot proof of any cracked manifolds other that the honda idiot that rewelded his and it broke around the new welds. So as long as this guy knows what he is doing with the reweld then it should be fine and dandy.

better question for him is what wastegate is he useing?

I hadn't researched this one casue I sourced out my own parts, but FWIW I stand by my earlier statement that the borg warner is a good unit, the seller and his kit on the other hand, I have no first hand knowledge

I like how he use a supra dyno chart in place of a rx7 dyno chart at 30psi.

You can build that exact kit for a lot less money and a lot more quality than what he's offering on his website. That turbo only cost's about $350.00, The manifold $150, A Quality DP $300 and all the fittings gaskets etc...
