The guys with the really BIG turbos might disagree, but that is THE turbo to use for really great driveabilty. It is probably no coincidence that you asked about that exact combination, because many of the old school turbo gurus recommend it. 450HP should not be out of the question, but of course many other things will be the limiting factor before the turbo becomes an issue. That was one of my first turbos. It was the only turbo I had that was not truely laggy, and had an excellent response across the whole RPM range.

Hey I thank you very much. All i want this turbo is for street and im not intending to make crazy HP with my TII. GREAT DRIVABILITY is what i want. Something better than stoch turbo. I guess i will be buying this TURBO for sure!..Thanx again. Since you know about turbos and rotaries should it help the turbo if i MILD STREETPORT the motor???...I have the motor apart and was thinking of doing a mild streetport.

The TO4B/V-trim or H-Trim compressor turbos might be called old school but there are no big turbo cars that are going to give you the boost response and fun factor of those turbos in the 8 to 14 psi range!
These are the turbos that actually would make a car quicker and faster at stock boost levels!

You are asking the wrong person that question!! That turbo would just love some extra porting! I would highly recommend it if you have your block apart. For smaller turbos, the exhaust porting seems to have a more dramatic effect on response than the the intake porting, but your results may vary. You don't need a mammoth port for that setup, but some porting is definitely in order!

I have the motor apart!..i was thinking of going with a MILD STREETPORT but i still need to my homework on them. My main concern is will EVEN a MILD PORT pass smog???...I know that the turbo in the subject will definitely will not pass smog but i have a spare 89turbo that i can replace when the car needs smog check/test.

on pump gas my car dyno'd 372 @ 12 psi with that turbo
and I ran 11.9 @ 17psi on 104race gas

this turbo spools quick and is good to about 425 - 450 hp

fcturbo2,

Can you tell me where you bought the turbo from and for how much? I am looking to get the same turbo as an upgrade. Let me know what other mods you had along with this set-up. Thanks.

Im getting it from a private seller. If you go to www.thepartstrader.com some of this turbo comes up once in a while. I just got lucky to have found it there. I think 650.00 for a turbo and manifold is hell of a deal!..
I am planning to go HALTECH with this setup.

Got the TURBO today!..i wanted to post a picture but the photo host is unavailable. Anyways, its a V-trim .60, P-trim .96
This will be going to my TII. Is this turbo known to give alot of HP?..and How much??..

Also since its used im tempted to open it up to check if the shaft had overheated or ran with very low lubricant. Im just scared that something might go wrong.

Go with the standard. I have that and it works very well...too well. I FINALLY drove my car and at 5 PSI the wastegate opens. I'm going to switch to a 15 PSI spring tomorrow night.
