Like the one pictured in this thread? Do you need the housing as well?

Kinda late, but on this subject....

I have been told by a very reliable friend that when AMS Performance changed their exhaust housing on their EVO drag car, they gained no noteable power increases (they have 1000+ whp). They also claimed that the spool was about 500 rpms slower with the tial housing. They therefore swapped back to a regular style exhaust housing.

I should give them a call since I know them pretty well. The question then would become, much lighter housing, cleaner housing, ease of install, same power is it worth it?? I switched out for those reasons more than anything. I shaved my turbo's weight down from 47lbs to 24lbs with that turbine housing and I made a custom back plate. The turbine housing alone saved me over 10lbs.

I cant see the spool time being any slower with the tial housings. I guess when I get mine going ill have to update this thread. Im getting a .82 with the 35r. I just want a good autocross/track car making a nice 350-370whp. Im tired of looking at the car in my garage covered in dust and started ordering everything I need. I figure this is the best option for my power goals and ease of installation. I also know a few people that work at AMS and I never heard anything about that..ill dig up some info.

anybody think that its a good idea?
I was going to do that last year when the Tial first came out. Not enough money to convert this year and no engine at the moment. I am debating to do the project next year. I have some ideas which no one else has done before, so I consider all the previous attempts incomplete.

There is a twin turbo kit for the corvettte. It is placed in the rear where the mufflers use to be. It doesn't use any mufflers as the turbos dampen the noise and it's not required. It's this kind of creative out of the box thinking that is needed.

If the '09/2010 4th gen is a 3 or 4 rotor (like the Corvette was supposed to be in '74) then I will ditch the turbo's all together and transplant with that block instead. With history repeating itself since gas prices is what killed the rotary corvette, we may never see a 4th gen.

Zero or Cherlies7,

did either of you ever confer with AMS to see what they had to say about the Tial housing?

I guarantee the source that told me what I relayed is reliable and knows AMS very well...

Here is his car that is helping to be built by them...

I am interested to see what they say also as I really do prefer the idea/look of the Tial housing over a conventional cast iron piece.

im real interested in the turnout of these housings. looks a ton better for sure. but im also curious about the heat soak resistance. it would be nice to see if it affected things like overall flo of the exhaust and how long they last.

so the 1.03 for the GT35 is on its way and from what i here, this is somewhat identical to a T3 volute. this does not make any sense, why would tial make a 1.03 and not a 1.06?
