Well, I was hoping to get more done this weekend but unexpected circumstances had me out of town yestersay. So, that's that

This is what I got done this weekend.

Re-mounted the radiator
Mounted the electric waterpump
Mounted the overflow under the front end
Finished the side mount alternator
Installed a new throttle cable, waiting on my mazdatrix bracket though
Ripped the dash out
Did lots of wire sorting and simplifying
Ran a wire port on the firewal in back of the throttlebody for a cleaner look
Ran the AIT, MAP, Injectors, Coolant Temp Sensor and TPS wires through that hole.
Then, wire up the injectors and Map Sensor.

I'm fricken beat.......

Looks sick Eric!!!!!!! Take some pictures of how you do the throttle bracket so i don't have to do any thinking . I am running a Morse cable and don't see how it can do done without modification.

Thanks, I'm running the Spectre brand throttle cable. What modification are you talking about ? My cable kit came with several different ends to use.

The bracket i have may be bent but it looks like the cable comes out at the wrong angle.

Are you going to support the turbo with anything besides the piping? Did you get your throttle cable figured out?

I have to "re-build" my manifold first. Since I'm using the V-Band to connect the turbo to the Hat. It has to be dead on, well it's not. It's about 1/8 inch off so the V-Bands don't line up. I already have the manifold and turbo tweaked on their flanged so my only option is to cut the manifold in half and tweak it.

Once that's done, I'll toss together a nice heavy duty turbo mount.

The throttle cable, I see what you were saying. It angles the cable down, I haven't thought much of it. If anything, I figured that tap could be bent to a 90 right ?

For my throttle cable, the bulkhead fitting that fits in the firewall hole. What did you use for that? My kit came with a plastic peice but it's already broke in half ! That's what I get for buying one from autozone ! haha

Yeah, i took after my bracket with a vise and got it just where i wanted it. I had to do a bit of welding though because i am running a morse cable.

I don't think i am going to brace my turbo. The inlet piping is VERY heavy duty and rigid and the downpipe will support the weight of the back of the turbo. When you see the piping you will laugh. It is all at least 3/16-1/4 wall, i bet you could pick the car up by it. I figure that should be more than enough.

instead of modifying the manifold, why not just mod the charge pipe?

Yeah I'd just grind those flanges off and use a good ol' coupler. I can only ever get about 1 of 10 v band connections to seal completely 100% with zero leaks. The rest always have a little seepage, but thats on exhaust.

Grind those flanges off ? I paid nearly $100 for those flanges

I know that I could have used a common rubber hose connector. But, I wanted something better. Something that wouldn't blow off, and I think it looks alot nicer than a rubber hose connector.

My V-Band Assembly is fitted with a rubber o-ring.

Bah, why something better - you won't fit enough boost in that TII block to blow a good coupler before you crack an iron!!

Just a suggestion of what I'd do. You could zip those off (and save it if you like) and stick a coupler on with very little effort. Could also put a bar between the turbo and charge pipe to reduce the seperation forces, but I don't think there'll be much of those forces with the way your setup is anyway.

Id personaly want a flexable coupler there, you know the manifold is going to heat up and move a little, somethings got to give...

I'll have a heavy duty turbo brace too, so even if I got rid of the v-band flanges.................... the turbo brace will keep the turbo from moving around therefore keeping the manifold from moving around

Yeah, it will be welded and all one piece. I mocked it all up today and drilled three holes trough the two pieces and screwed it to hold it while it was being welded.


That throttle cable is just a morse type cable. I like them a lot better than the traditional cable style.

I have not mounted the IAT yet but i will probably put it in the thick part on the underside. I also still need to put my BOV on.

Did you remove the divider from your hat?
