Is there room for a 76mm turbo and an LS1?

Hey guys, I am new to the club and am quite excited about getting on the lift for some retro-fitting. I must say that these are some very sharp cars, rivalling the looks of my vette! Indeed, I have found some new respect for the potential of some imports.

I'll cut to the chase. I have been doing a lot of reading and, obviously, have found a well of information regarding the SBC and, in particular, LSx installations. Naturally, I am inclinded to wonder how large, if any, of a turbo or turbos can be fitted on an LSx installation. Although I am most definitely not done researching, I have yet to come across a turbo LSx Rx7. I am beginning to wonder if it is not very doable. As well, is there room to do a rear-mount?

Please feel free to rag on me if there is ample information on the site regarding all of my questions; I have nothing against spending the time.

I can't wait to get to know the group,

Mike

I dont who makes it but ... there's a twin turbo kit i believe for a VET.. the damn things Sits on the back of the car... nxt to the exhaust... pretty sick seen it once.. never went online and searched for that.. but from what i heard it has better cooling.. and all since the turbos are on the back and air travels to the front to the intake..... But thats on a VET.
I'm pretty sure you can make a custom one for the 7. y not.!!!

you could always remote mount one (at the back) but it would be alot of piping for an intercooler. Im sure there is room for one, hell they fit a 76mm in a cobra engine bay, have you ever looked in one of those?

It's made by STS.

OP:
You know, unless you're going for a land speed record there's really no need for FI on an LSx RX-7 (IMHO) Depending on your budget...(But hey! You've got enough to do the swap anyways) you can get upwards of 600whp and torque from those engines anyways. Keep in mind that your 7 weighs in well under 3k lbs.
As far as enough room to fit a turbo? Absolutly! As most LS1 turbos are custom fit anyways for various vehicles. you'll need to be creative to find a good spot for all the needed hardware.

If I had a LS1 equipped RX-7, and I HAD to have some type of power adder besides NO2, I'd go with a Magnacharger. Or any Roots type blower for that matter.

it looks like they would be positioned forward of the motor if you were to do it on a FC.
