I am starting to think that we need a sticky thread of what turbo's actually work on 13b's with full description, measurements and picture, lots of people buy turbo's second hand or through a private seller, and without years of turbo experience, most people are not sure of what they are getting..
When I took my T04e to a few authorized Garrett dealers in my search for a v band clamp, not one of them actually knew what it was, or what size it was, they knew it was a garret and that was it, they are hard to identify without a comparison... To this day I am not really sure what I have, although I am hoping its a 60-1 with p trim, if not I'm up **** creek...Max

Is there nothing stamped in the housings? remove the copmressor plate and mic the compressor wheel, then compare it to the charts at www.turboneticsinc.com Those are th only ways I found out what mine is...

For all your stainless steel needs go to www.burnsstainless.com That's where they get it anyway.

I think a thread with some numbers would be good, instead of presumptions and heresay. Exact specs, boost threshholds per gear, boost limits, intake temps, etc. Hey maybe I'll go start one...

I found the v-band clamp eventually at a place that does RV and diesel truck exhaust upgrades.. The flange to pipe adapter they got me was the wrong size, so I needed an adapter, I went to a heavy duty truck partstore that I had been to before in my search for v-band clamps, they told me they didn't have such clamps on my first visit there, but I remembered they had exhaust reducers since I had seen them when I was there, when I went back for the pipe adapter, they took me to the back of the store to show me the other stuff they had, and there was a rack at least 15' wide by 20 ft' tall of nothing but v-band clamps.. The guy that served me the first time I was there didn't know jack **** obviously, however it was a chick that helped me the second time and she knew her stuff, she even gave me some piping for free from their old stock pile..
As for my turbo I know its a .70 a/r compressor side, 1.15 a/r hotside, however the trim is the hard part to verify... But I did print off the stuff from Turbonetics to check it against... Thanks...Max

Whats up with you guys and LAG ? , a little bit of lag never hurt anyone . You might get a turbo thats more responsive in the lower RPM ranges but very pathetic in th higher ranges , even the stock twins work great down low but suck up high , when I went non sequential ,things only started to happen at about 3800 - 4000 rmp , yet still I enjoyed driving the car more, dosen't the average single respond the same but with a greater "REWARD" ? . I think you need to work on making your engines "SPIN" better . RPM 'S of the engine is essentially what brings the turbo into positive operation ,so if you cause the engine to go throgh the RPM'S faster you will get boost faster . I use a street ported engine ,10lb flywheel underdrive pulleys devided exhaust manifold /turbine ,more aggressive ignition timing before the boost comes in ,3" intercooler piping and 3.5"-3" free flow exhaust piping . I think having the 13BREW engine block would also help greatly, I can't see the sense in going through all that **** to run 10 - 15 psi , once you go big single you need to run 18-25 psi

The point is, for a given level of boost one wants to run, there is a turbo that is the most efficient and the rest are not. On my TII, I want to run in the 400-450 HP range. This comes about when running 15 psi in a properly set up TII for most. The best turbo for running 15 psi is the 60-1. Not to mention, once you exceed that HP level in a TII you start to break the drivetrain and have traction problems. If I had a system that came on between 3500 and 4000 it would be great! The lag I am complaining about is that my T-66 comes on between 5000 and 6000 rpm at 15 psi. My motor is ported as well. This is a turbo that needs more like 25 psi to be efficient and enjoyable. Anyways...
