T51R KAI for a large streetport??? Advice needed ASAP!!!

Hi i was just wondering what is the goods and bads of this turbo going into my currently single turbo car. I have a medium size turbo, an older model Turbonetics BB but only manage to make 391RWHP when dyno with Ray from PFS and he told me that if i wanted more power i needed to change the turbo to something up to date. So i found this turbo used and was just wondering if it's a good turbo for my set up or not and lagging isn't the biggest issue for me.

Large Streetport according to Ray and maybe Half-Bridge according to Dave at KDR for what it is i don't really know i bought it from a guy in this forum.
Power FC
800cc Prim and 1300cc Sec
Front Mount
Walborol 255 fuel pump
3 down Pipe
FPR

So what do you guys think should i or not i want to make a little over 400RWHP

By the way this turbo i can get it for about $1350 is this a good price???

I used to own one, put down over 600 whp with it.

If I had $1350 to spend on a turbo, it wouldn't be a HKS T51R KAI

Definately too big for only 400whp. Go with a T04E or S.

It sounds like he already has a T04S. 390ish is about right for that depending on setup. You need a T04R/T04Z/T67 (same thing, T04Z is the ball bearing one). That will do over 400 on pump gas definately.

I don't know exactly which T04 it is, but it is BB and that it's making 391whp at 14.5 psi. Now what kind of power do you guys think i can get with the T51R turbo??? I mean the more power the better right? so if i can get more then 430whp with this turbo then i'm happy with it.

That all depends on the boost you want to run. The efficiantcy (spelling?) range on the T51 is going to be in the middle 20psi range. A smaller turbo would be better for you for the street. Peak power doesn't mean crap. You want a broad power curve with a nice torque curve as well. A half bridge is a waste of time. If you going to do it, just go with a full bridge or not at all. And if your going with a nice single turbo setup, stick with Ray. The other shop you mentioned is out of its league with anything but stock twins.

My old T51R KAI, put down something like 530 whp @ 20 psi. It might have been a little less.

But, for the longest time I ran the car @ 15psi on the street. I can tell you one thing, it was a terror on the street and the most fun the ever was at that boost level. It went 11.30's at that boost level and practially beat everything on the street except one and only one jackass in a sleeper mustang that was spraying the house down.
