...he got it at the bat cave...better known as H.A.S.

It's a Japanese tuning shop that does quite well in the HKS Drag races over here. It's big as SH*T...and for the price that he got it for, damn....

Dragon,
We use them alot over here in Australia, they are known as TA45's here and are made up from huge diesel turbo truck units. The cores are excellent as they were built to run 30+psi for long periods of time and I think you will also find that this is where the Q trim originated. It should have the thick shaft and we have found them to be almost bulletproof. Being such a large turbo they are not very efficient below 20psi, but above that they come into their own. I dont know how compatible the compressor will be with street use or a conventional gearbox. For this the smaller 70 or 76mm front wheel seems to respond better and still flow enough for more power than you will need.
Your turbo is very similar in spec to what I ran on my FD outlaw class car. This was on a 13b but also had a Liberty 5sp gearbox in it to keep it in its power range. As I said although it was poor under 20psi at 30+ there was not many other single turbos that would achieve the same results.
The TA45 will cost you approx $3k AUS ($1600US) once it is ready to go on.
Regards- Anthony.

FD RX7- 3/4chassis
2270lbs
8.18sec @ 165mph- TA45 + N2O
8.31sec @ 161mph- TA45 no gas.

Hey thanks, I'm picking up anouther turbo today, Its a A/R 72 compressor housing with a T-51S wheel in it and a P or Q trim A/R 1.00 exaust... The owners not sure. It's supposed to be in great shape except the guy dropped the saft and bent it while overhauling it...

Perhaps you should put the t45 on your race car and use the new one on your street car. If the guy bent theshaft and still put it back when he overhauled it I would be taking a real close look at it.

If it's a P trim then it'll cost me about $250 or so for a new shaft and bearings, if it's a Q $350 should do it.. I'm getting it for about $300 so I can't really go wrong with it...

Yea, the 45S is going on the race car, and I already have a T04R A/R 70 - P trim A/R 1.0 turbo for the street car.. the frankenstien 51S is gonna be a back up turbo...

do you know how weel the 51S is flow charts/ power potential?

Also how much power were you putting down on your car with the 45S?

Thanks

Dont have flow charts with me but should be able to find something on them in the w/shop. Dyno Dynamics Dyno made 678whp but given its all through rubber tyres Im not sure how accurate it was. Never hit gas on dyno so I cant answer properly. Marrosso hp calculator put mph vs. weight at 820 engine hp. These are only numbers and everyone seems to be different. If you look on RX7.com they have listed mycar as the #1 Outlaw 13B rx7, so it must be making at least "good" power.
Thanks

Yes ! Either a Turbosmart or a PSR 45mm both do the job and have great back up service.

i bought a hks t45s about a month ago. I searched a lot of places to find info and specs on this turbo but did not have much luck. most pages were ones in japan and did not have detailed info on the wheel sizes ect.
i took a chance and bought the turbo anyway. I am glad i did. it turned out to be what i think will be a good turbo for my setup.

specs on the turbo are. a/r .72 on the compressor. the compressor wheel measures. around 2.5 on the inducer and goes out to around 3.25 on the major. and then the exhaust side is a/r .90 tang divided, with a p trim wheel. I have not got the car up and going yet, but should be within a month or so. i will post #s and how the turbo responds when its going.

also Dragon, since your in japan. myabe you could help me out. there is a 4 bolt square style exhaust flange that comes off the turbo exhaust side.
I am going to have to build a down pipe and have had no luck finding this flange in the u.s. are the avail in japan? tihs is holding me up, if i cant find one i am going to just weld on a vband style flange.

Let me know if you can help track down a flange.
thanks,
James

No kidding, whats up chris?

I was reading about engine management on this forum since you directed me here... wish the nissan community had a place with this many serious tuners to learn from.

Yeah, so anyway, I'm looking at the website for the Wolf 3D version 4.0 which recently came out. Have you seen the improvements they've made? And it seems as though the price is right. How do you think it would do for my piston application?

It also has two outputs for external shiite... such as water injection.

yup, I checked out all the propane injection stuff. Very cool... but I'm still leaning towards the water injection currently. It was a stretch for me to get used to the water injection idea, now to switch my mindset and tuning plans... dammit. Not sure what to do, so now I will build this extra head I have lying next to me for over 8000 rpms... find an A/R .50 turbine housing and see what I have then.

Sorry, no AIM. Maybe I should look into that again... its been a few years.
