Question T04R or T04Z

I'm getting a street port motor, and I was wondering if the T04R, or the 04Z setup. I've heard the 04Z was just a ball bearing version of the 04R, but I can realy decide. The R or the Z?

If you do a search you will find its cheaper to just get a garrett T04R instead of the HKS unit. I just got my T04R in the mail today . Overall I heard the Z is not worth the extra money.

I seem to remember hearing that the T04z spooled about 300-400 rpm's quicker on the same engine. Not much of a big deal in my opinion.

To4Z is a BB To4R, that is it really. same exact wheels just slightly different in other areas.

I can set you up with either a To4R for much cheaper than HKS if intersted. Or I can build you something very similar to a To4Z if you want as well but that will cost you a bit. Still probably half of HKS price.

The 300 or 400rpm is about right and it will offer a broader power band, flatter torque curve, and better transient response. All good things in my book

Sean, wouldn't the 500R be pretty equal with a T04Z?

Pretty close. I think I'm seeing better response and even offer better rotary options ( ie bigger turbine housings.) I didn't bring it up because I'm not offering it as a stand alone unit.

I have the Garrett version of the T04Z, posted up my dyno chart and 1/4 mile slip on the 3rd gen section of this forum so you can take a look

I do like the way my Ball bearing spools up that bit quicker then a T04R, my turbo has a bigger exhaust A/R then the HKS version
