T04e or T04s for Road Racing?

Hi all. I've already ruled out the RX6, simply from a parts avail standpoint. I live right near XS, so they're the logical choice. So now, I'm stuck deciding between the E or the S. From what I've seen on all the dynos, the torque curve on the E is flat from 4k to about 7k, which looks great. On the S, it's about 4500 to to about 7k. This makes both appear useable for my purposes, with the E having the range and the S having the power advantage.

My big question is, what am I not seeing? Is the throttle response going to be much quicker on one than the other? Is there something else I'm not thinking of? Any help would be appreciated.

One more question: part of going this route is that I hope to reduce the load on the cooling system, by getting rid of the twins. Is this true? and is the XS kit a wet bearing turbo (or can I order it either way)?

The T04E is very close to the Apex in terms of performance... the T04S will likely lag a little more... I can't say for 100% since my car isn't running yet....

Thanks, Brian. I have another question...
on the dyno graphs you posted:

It appears that the T04e @ 14psi with street port underperforms the T04e @ 13psi w/o street port. Is this the reality of this port/turbo combination, or do you think it's just a matter of one car being better tuned than the other? I'm going with a street port and a single this week, but this is giving me pause....

You can't use those graphs to say for SURE which is better... they are an estimate... Maybe the ported car was tuned more conservatively? Perhaps the non ported car was done on a 40 degree day vs 100 degrees for ported? Maybe one had a better intercooler?

These graphs are for just kinda checking out what TYPE of performance you might get .... You can't compare them too closely without knowing EVERY variable... Just use them for a rough idea....

I think that porting is a good idea!

Yep, it's that torque curve that's got me thinking T04e is the way to go, I just wonder if it's better to give up the the power of the T04s for the flatter torque and broader range of the E:

Well, decision made, I got the E. I figured it was the right one, I just hoped someone would come in and say "Stop, what you really want is an R and I can show you how to make smooth, lagless power to 1200hp!"

Thanks, guys.

Thanks, Ken. That really means something from a guy who's got that turbo. Can't wait to get the car to the track with the new turbo!
