T04 help

i have a T04r on a hks cast manifold , external waste gate and a 3 inch downpipe in a stock port s5 engine. the thing i dont like is the lag but once full boost kicks in with only 10psi...the sudden surge of power is too much for me to handle.

honestly i dont like it. it has a 0.70 compressor side and a 1.15 hotside...

i would want to go something smaller that i do not need to change another manifold , downpipe , intercooler piping etc.

so i was wondering which turbo you guys would suggest me to go? i know this is too big for my engine..

if anyone is interested and have smaller turbo i am open for trades + some cash because turbo is new.

You can fit pretty much any T4-sized turbo on that manifold. However, in order to accomodate the intercooler and downpipe, you have to keep the 1.15 turbine housing A/R (probably why it lags so bad and kicks in so hard), along with a turbo that also utilizes a T04S compressor housing. Right off the top of my head, a 60-1 or 62-1 turbo should fit without modification to anything. The 60-1 should net you around 380rwhp on those stock ports. The 62-1 should get you near 400rwhp with those ports. I'd suggest you try swapping out the turbine housing for something smaller first. Try a .81 or a .96 A/R housing. Also, the 1.15 is divided (isn't it?). When you couple this divided housing with the collected HKS cast manifold, you lose some exhaust efficiency, which is probably why your setup lags as much as you describe it. But yea, try a smaller, collected turbine housing first... you might be surprised by how much better it performs.

I would suggest getting a T04E 57 or 60 trim. This will spool pretty fast depending on the A/R of your hotside. I have a HKS T04E 57 trim with a .84 A/R on the hotside with a large streetported motor and it spools fast. This is a really good turbo for a stock port. I need something bigger...lol. If you want a little more power but a little more lag then go for the T04S 62-1. These are all turbos that will bolt right up to your HKS manifold.
