Suggestions for engines?

Hey I recently purchased an '89 GTUs that needs a rebuild in the next 4 months or so. I don't really have the time or resources to go carless for however long a rebuild might take. If not the same engine, what's a good swap? I'd like to make it turbo too. I'm all ears.

Swaping a motor is something that may take some time. I'm shure that some people on the forum could do it in a weekend, with all the correct parts on hand. But the average person its going to take some serious time and effort. If I where you, I would look for anouther car for transportation, because a rebuild can cost some serious $$. If you're looking for a budget rebuild, I'd check out Kevin Landers on the forum here.

But, If you want to do the rebuild that uses nearly 100% new parts (Rotorhousings, bearings, apex seals, side seals etc.) I'd check out Pineapple Racing. Robs a good friend of mine. CJ

Motor swaps that ive heard of, that are fairly common. 2JZ, LS1, LT1, the 13b turbo, SR20Det, think i heard of a 5.0 swap as well.

You can buy the mounts for an LS1 swap from grannys speed shop, do a google search, and ask rastahraj (think i got his name right) about it. He has an LS1 in his FD. Might be able to help you out.

Those would take more time that removing and dropping a new 13B in. From the sound of it he doesn't have a lot of spare time on his hands.

I want to keep it rotary but turbo it. I think a new 13B would do the trick. Also I can find the time to swap, I just need to find a motor.

Well, if you want to make a drive upto the Salem Oregon area, I'll have a 89+ n/a engine on the ground tomorow morning. The engine had 94k miles on it accordig to the previous owner. I bought the car after it caught fire. Once I have it pulled, I'm going to take a peak in the exhaust ports to see what the rotor housings look like.

You'll have to swap quite a bit to do it properly.....tranny, driveshaft, diff, ecu, wiring........
