Stock TT to Single Conversion
I'm new to the rotary world, but I've had my 93 TT for about 5 months now and I want to go single.(I got to drive my friend's and now I'm hooked) All I want to know is what all do I need, my friend knows alot about RX7 TT's, but he's out of the country for about another month, so I can't ask him. We were planning on doing this when he got back, but I figured I'd start getting everything together now.

Get the single turbo kits of your choice from Greddy, SX-engineering,pettit racing or even m2-performance then you will need a good fuel system to accomodate the turbo. What I mean by a good fuel system is fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, good injectors. Then comes the ecu you will need a complete engine mangement like the Apex power FC or Halteck EK6. Get a decent boost controller like the AVCr which is very popular or the Greddy Profec B for example. Then you will need a good boost guage very important to keep an eye on the turbo working condition.

You might want to just do the basic upgrades first and then see if you really want to go with a single. You can't beat the around town power of the sequentials. The basic upgrades are also almost necessary before you go single. If you buy the parts used you can resell them for about the same price you paid for them later.
Unless you are looking for more than 400RWHP you can leave the stock fuel system in, except for the fuel pump. You will need a different ECU though and there are a few options out there.
Basically, buy a turbo kit from somewhere, make sure it has in it a DP, intake and an IC pipe for you IC inlet. Buy an IC, fuel pump and a ECU.
Stay with the stock sequentails, they are best for street application.

I second that motion. Going to a singe turbo takes quite a few mods and a lot of $$$ to do it properly. For the street, the best thing you can go with is stock twins, however, if you insist on going single, a lot of peole go with the Greddy T04 turbo , or Apex single ball bearing turbo for max power with best streetability. But I STRONGLY suggest going with other mods first (Haltech/Power FC, fuel system, IC, radiator, etc...)

Before jumping into a single turbo conversion I would do all the other mods. You should do a intake, full exhaust, IC, Haltech or Power FC, and fuel sys upgrade. All of there items will needed for a single turbo conversion anyway so you might as well do them first with the twins, if you still want to go single its not a big deal. If you do decide to continue with the single you'll just need the turbo and plumbing that comes with it along with some tuning.
You might decide after doing all the bolt ons that its fast enough. The complete list of boltons will have you running around 350-380rwhp(depending on boost) which translates into mid-high 11's in the 1/4 on the stock twins.
Of course before you do any of this you need to make sure your car is in tip top health with a boost gauge and compression test.
If its not you will kiss your motor good buy!!!
