Question specs of stock hitachi second gen turbo

Who knows what the stock specs (ie a/r, comp wheel, exhaust) for the stock FC turbo. I know its equivalent to a t3 i beleive.

Just want to compare to a T04 I will be buying.

Thanks in advance

it's almost the size of a t3/t4, it's like t03/t4xx

my friend has a t3/t4 turbo on his civic, looks the same, just a rx-7 turbo looks a lil bigger.

My 88 T2 had an HT18 turbo, but I don't know what the specs were on it.

Here's a bunch of info. on the S4 hot side, and a little bit on the cold.
Jack K. Yamaguchi has this to say about the series 4 turbocharger: “The twin scroll turbocharger concept was developed jointly by Mazda’s Department Five and by Hitachi, and is manufactured by Hitachi having been designated HT18S-2S. It’s turbine-side bearing area is now water-cooled, and the main body is further protected by high temperatures by a dual-skinheat shield. The 1 blade turbine, of impact design, is 64 mm (2.52 inch) in diameter. It’s scroll area, the nry path for exhaust gas, is divided into two passages separated by an integrally cast wall; one, called the secondary scroll, has a trap-door-like gate operated by intake vacuum. The turbine thus has two cross sectional area (a) factors, A being the scroll’s smallest area as used in calculating turbocharger performance characteristics: 6.00 sq. cm (.93 sq. in) for the primary path and 9,48 sq. cm (1.47 sq. in) for the secondary. The other factor is R, the distance between the turbine-shaft center and the center of area A: 59.4 mm (2.34in) for the primary path, 60.4 mm (2.38in) for the secondary. Thus the twin-scroll turbocharger has two A/R ratios: 0.4 for the primary and 1.0 for the primary and secondary combined.”

As for the compressor side, “its 12-blade compressor is 63 mm (2.48 in) in diameter.
I'm pretty sure the turbine A/R for the S5 is 1.00.

does anyone have a picture or link to a picture of the twin-scroll system? It is used in the evo 8 also isnt it? There must be some flaw with it or wouldnt most all turbochargers have this feature?

i can't see it being as big as 1.0 Mine certainly didn't seem that big. Some here said they measured it and it was a .87

a/r is just a ratio though... so it might be small but still 1.0

i read somewhere that (grassroots i think ) that the stock compressor at 5.5 psi has 46% efficiency according to cartech. Thats why cartech recommend getting a compressor upgrade for significant power increase.

By that do they mean just the housing or the compressor blade needs to be changed too?

Has anyone used the compresor housing from a buick grand national?
