A-spec 500R VS A-spec GT40R
I've been reading on the A-spec 500R for a while and I like the consistant numbers of 450 @ 15psi and 500 @ 20psi. what about the GT40R in comparison? i'm not seeing steady enough numbers to compare the two turbo's. I hear the 500R kit is going for 3700. the GT40R is like 3100 on rx7store.net, but is it the same as the A-spec version? lots of questions still to come on these turbo kits. thanks.

A-specs and RX7store's kits are not the same. I can't speak for RX7store's kits as I have no personal experience with them, but I can tell you that A-Spec's craftsmanship and customer service is top notch. I'm very happy with my 500R kit so I highly recommend it!

I started a thread titled "Happy with 500R?" about a week ago to see how folks were making out with this kit. I had heard that Aspec had sold ~15 of them; how many are installed, I don't know. Broken09 is the only respondent so far. I'm waiting for a few others to chime in before I take the plunge.

obviously, a lot of other people have questions about these kits as well... maybe Zero R could chime in and help explain some things? I've not seen the 40R be as acurate on HP numbers as the 500R has. i'm seeing the 500R hit 500RWHP at 20psi, and the 40R is only hitting ~450RWHP at 22psi. not sure if this 40R is an A-spec or RX7store kit. i was thinking the 500R was a step below the 40R, but i'm not so sure now. any input Zero R?

your best bet is to email Sean or go in the A-Spec section on the top of this forum above.. Hes been spending time on the Viper boards lately and sometimes he cant make it here as much as he likes.

Yes the 500R is a GT35R T4 with the RS wheel. I think someone should ask one of the other companies to make it, so that way a bunch of us could by the turbo only. I want one bad. They quoted prices and all on it, then the dyno numbers came in and they changed the name of it and said they will only sell it in a kit.

marix1521- The 500R has a broader and taller comp map than the 40R. I would bet they are about the same in HP potential. The 40R might have a slight edge in eff. but it is hard to tell with no numbers on the 40R map. That said It does not respond anywhere near as close as the 500R. You would have to step it down to a smaller .8x A/r to get the response. Also I made this turbo in response to 40R/40R parts being extremely hard to come by for quite awhile.
sk8world-There will be no RS wheel on the 40R sorry. I could make you something if you wish. But I don't know to what benefit for you.
Rotortuner- Things were changed. For a few reasons, First, it was no longer a 35RS. Second, I had more orders than I could meet and still do.
Broken09- That has crossed my mind no lying there.
