3rd gear... and as i have posted in other threads this isn't the first gt500r car we've done. there was another stock port car as well that spooled almost identical. the one i first mentioned is getting a motor built and ported by us so then we'll get to see what the turbo can really do. he's wanting to do a race gas tune of around 20psi.

did you datalog that or are you just watching the tach as you kick it? i thought the same thing until i reviewed my logs and noticed it was actually coming in later than it felt. the thing is tho, as it's spooling it's making great torque and doesn't feel as laggy as it sounds by any means.

if i was just driving it around kickin it i would serously think it had a 60-1 on there the way it's so linear and responsive, but you have to remember, this is a 66mm turbo.

I thought it was a 82mm comp and 74mm turbine.

This seems a bit off, usually we are seeing 15psi around 4k or less. I would bet it is the IC combined with the stock ports as well as the turbo. Also what turbine A/r is on it?

I would have to agree with non ported engine causing the boost lag or is that called thresh hold? So many people misuse lag, that I forget. I'm at 10lbs no higher then 4200. I will have to check again if it's lower then i'll correct with another reply. I have not retuned at 15lbs yet.

Anyhow, where are the T04Z reply's? I don't think this is bashing anyone or any company because even if the Z has similar or even better numbers it costs a few thou$ more. There is also a generic T04Z which i'm shure could be made by A-Spec to work with their T04R kit.

I have to think when you tune for 15psi...you will see 10psi sooner than that; as your WG will still be shut and the needle will "zoom zoom" thru 8-13.5psi range.

Well i'm debating selling my 500R kit and Apexi FMIC and switching to all HKS (T04Z & V-Mount). I got quoted about $2k to custom install my A/C. There's no way i'll be without A/C in my car! I got a few PM from T04Z owners but no open replys on this thread. I'd like to see some pics of T04Z setups with working A/C.

I'd also like to see, if possible:
GT35R 1.06 vs 500R 1.06
and .85 A/R vs 1.06 A/R

Jason is selling the Garrett T04Z if you want to save some money from the HKS markup.

http://www.rx7store.net/Garrett_Turb...ett%20t04z.htm

I allready have my T04R but i wish i had the "Z" option at the time. I think now that they are becoming more readily available they will be one of the more common setups. From what i understand the T04Z is very popular in Australia and Japan.

^ That's the Generic Garret version. The only reasons I wanted to do the swap was retaining the A/C (old HKS FMIC had A/C relocation kit) but they don't provide and A/C anything with the kit. I called them earlier today and was told none of their V-Mount kits have A/C relocation kits. So the positives with getting both HKS turbo and HKS v-mount are: Comes with FMIC piping (no rip off monkey fabricator ripoff cost there). Comes with air pump relocation bracket (no rip off monkey fabricator ripoff cost there).

Also, the HKS Vmount comes with it's own compressor tube. You don't need to get a GReddy and custom a pipe to the intercooler.

I would just wait for the v-mount FDNewbie is going to be releasing. They are making a kit option to retain the factory A/C. Then you can just run what ever turbo you want at that point.

My car is running like a raped ape at 14 psi, I just havent gotten to the dyno yet. Here's a nice vid that shows my acceleration from a stop light, pulling on a Kawasaki 636:

Thats because they dont make as much power as thought to be or nobody wants to push them hard,...at least the ones I have seen and heard of...
with the exception of Rich's, haha it sounds good and rev's out nice and I bet it makes good power.

Regardless of if they don't make as much power as they want, I believe most folks just havent finished building, or they havent tuned yet, because they're waiting for the right tuner to tune their car. I like that Ramy is creating a vmount, but I also like the fact HKS has their own compressor tube. ALL other vmounts on the market don't have that option, unless their providing a GReddy compressor tube or some other company's compressor tube for their I/C kit.

Well I beleive the GT35R, GT500R and the T04Z will all be around 415rwhp. This is from what little dyno numbers i've gathered. I don't see any diference between the 35R and 500R at 15lbs. I don't beleive I needed the bigger wheel myself but it was new and easier to do at the time of purchase. Also, since the boost start and peak on the 500R is about 3500-4500 and the T04Z is about 4000-5000pms I think the T04Z maybe be a closer match to the GT40R. At 15lbs I think the 35R is the choice. For CA people the "HKS" T04Z is clearly the closest to stock as possible and may be the better choice. The HKS V-Mount includes an elbow and pipe on the drivers side with more of a circular bend then the "S" shape of Greddy and OEM. It also comes with pipes from the turbo to the intercooler.

Turbo mag - May issue:

A-Spec 500R
Pettit Race Port
500hp @ 20lbs

Now i've seen the T04Z do 450rwhp @ 16lbs on JDM sites but I haven't found one @ 20lbs.

Someone on this forum selling his FD had the full HKS T04Z kit (you can search in the car classifieds) and dynoed something like 495rwhp at 19psi.

EDIT: Did the search
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=t04z

but who knows what correction factors there were etc.
