Spark Plug Decesion. Did a search.. 500hp+

Well I see a topic on just about every type of plug, but nothing is giving me the answer i am looking for.

I currently run NGK 9's all around, these are good for 420hp. I am moving up to 550hp range and I am going to need colder plugs.

I have a set of 10.5 and 11 HKS plugs.. but I plan on using these for the track only.

Needed:

-Plug that will handle 550hp range
-Plug that will work as a daily driving plug (meaning it can start cold, and idle fine until car reaches optimal temperature)
-Can't run more than $10 a peice.

Most race plugs are $25 and up. I just need a set of plugs that can do it.

Now.. I hear stories about gapped vs resistor type plugs.. etc etc. The stockers are resistor type with the electrode in the middle correct?

I am looking into the following:

NGK BR10EIX (10 heat Range, Iridium)
or
NGK B10EGV (10 heat Range, Gappable, non resistor type)

I also hear the B10EGV requires a thinner socket for installation.

Basically, from EXPERIENCE which plug would be best suited?

I'd be running 22psi with pump and methanol, daily driver. See sig for additional mods. THanks

-Darren-

www.kgparts.com carries the socket you need for like 20$

Will B11EGV's give me a problem on cold starts? I assume the ignition amp will help with that... and what is the gap I need to use on them?

What kind of power are you putting down?

I'm concerned with them fouling under daily driving conditions.

I am thinking of the NGK Racing R6725 11 heat range. I hear they work alright for daily driving.

I should be putting down 500+ hp.. on a T51r KAI at 22psi with Pump and Methanol.

Trying to find the best way to go.

R6725 10.5 heat range ran great for me on the street, with a good tune and a lean idle and cruise you should have no problems with fouling. These performed way better, and I mean way better than any other plug I tried. Cost >> $10 tho

To be honest i havent had any prob,

but im running 2 crane HI-6 boxes, and using the lx92 fireball coils. so my ignition could get them to fire in pretty much anything.

Daily driving= still get to go to WOT quite often , with a good tune you'll be fine

Cheapest I'm finding them for is $25 a peice... can you show me where you got them for $10??

Or did you simple mean COST > $10 - cause they're not cheap. I got HKS plugs, but i refuse to use those.. lol. They're too damn expensive as it is.. i guess they're about the same.

If I use R6725 11's in the Leading and BUR9EQP or whatever in the trailings.. would that be ok?

Doesn't look like your going to beat the B11EGV's....$5.37/ea.

http://sparkplugs.com/results_cross....11EGV&x=46&y=5

Have people found these to foul when street driven?

Oh well...

2 - NGK Gold palladium
Stock Number: 5831
Part Number: B11EGV
Unit Price: $5.37
Extended Price: $10.74

2 - NGK Gold palladium
Stock Number: 5927
Part Number: B10EGV
Unit Price: $5.37
Extended Price: $10.74

Picked up a set of 10's and a set of 11's

We'll see which one works best, starting with 10's. I'm going to gap them at .022.

I am going to run the standard BUR9EQP's for trailing.

No..

Kan is tuning.. if I am getting misfiring, they're not cold enough. I wouldn't expect to see misfiring until 18 psi plus... IF they weren't up to par. The 10's should be fine for 23psi. Someone told me the rule of thumb was 1 heat range per 5psi over 15. So if I am going to do 20psi, 10's should be fine... 23psi would be about 10.5 but i am using methanol... and Steve knows what he is doing. I am not sure how accurate that little 'rule' is.. but we'll see.

I have race plugs from HKS on hand just incase i need to swap those during the tune.

You got ripped off...

https://www.sparkplugs.com/results_c...R10EIX&x=0&y=0

They have them for $6.95.

Anyway, the EIX looks good.. but we'll see how the EGV's work and if all else.. i'll throw in my HKS plugs and spend $120 for a new set each month.

That depends if he's local. I can drive to Racing Beat and pick them up the same day. It's not very far either. Sparkplugs.com is in CA so in addition to tax there is a shipping fee.
