Rich,

I had the same situation with my Blitz FMIC inlet pipe. I cut it off at the base, swapped ends (raises it a little more), rotated it for alignment, and welded it in the new position.

Mine lined up perfectly. I just had to take a 90 off of the intercooler into a straight peice into another 90 at the turbo. I was quite impressed and happy that it lined up. BTW my manifold sits lower (I have the rx7store manifold).

Looks good man. Hopefully we can get that motor of mine built, and I can have a setup as nice as yours.

So I take it you don't regret getting the 4" pipe?

Rich,

I doubt it will be louder than these Kudzu Downing cars (4-rotors) with 6-inch exhaust cannisters. . .

BTW: you'll need some dual brake ducts to stop your baby now (see last pic!)

Looks great!

:-) neil

PS: you might have to install heat-shields or heat-sheaths on the suspension links close to the exhaust just like the prototype cars below.

I don't think that magnaflow will do anything to quiet it down. I have a resonator on my Buddy Club and installed a met' cat and it still sets off alarms and turns heads. I may end up making a custom exhaust because I don't want anything restrictive. The noise is fun on the weekends and sometimes slightly tolerable for daily driving, but forget about long trips.

I was wondering about this, will putting in a magnaflow 3" inlet/outlet muffler with 32" core and staright through, design really gunan restrict the flow that much? I wa sactually going to do one round canister in the mid pipe and a oval at the back.

I have been searching for info on proper mufflers for the midpipe and the consensus says that Magnaflow is better at quieting the exhaust than Borla. My midpipe will be 3.5" and I want my exhaust as quiet as possible...

The Borla XR1 is a 16" case and the Magnaflow Race Series is a 14" case...they are both straight through. I would think the increased size would benefit the Borla. Anyone have any experience with these mufflers?

Hey Goodfella, what kind of horsepower are you guessing you will make at 25 psi. I was planning on running 22-23 next summer, but I can't wait to see what you get with 25.

^ Cozmo & Xeros - Well I called Borla researching the XR1 multi core. He can only give me a guess of 15db drop, which if i'm at 105 that would bring it down to 90? Allthough, he has no idea of what effect it will have for a rotary and he sugested the Turbo XL muffler since it has an outer layer of ceramic over the metal mesh as well. A-Spec has installed my Buddy Club and said I allready have one of the quiestest and may get louder with a Borla but my design also included a 17" premuffler in the piping from http://coastfab.com which is strait through and can order with ceramic covered stainless as well. They make them in 4" ID and also make jumbo sized OD upon request. They made one for the Mazda JGTC about 30" long or something like that. They are booked untill March (lust left the place), so they can't build it for me.

Probably a blown motor if he uses his current fuel setup . Rich, are you really planning on running 25psi?

Hey go racer that still doesnt answer the question. Is it really that restrictive to runa muffler with a straight through design as compaired to a full through exhuast with a crummy muffler?

Just to add a little high light to the 500r. A friend of mine dynoed 406whp at 16psi/456whp at 21psi on the 500r. I did not get the torque results .He has a full 3" exhaust, Motor by pettitracing,(I think stage 1) with 3mm seals, 850/1600 injectors/Aem/Greddy 3 row/hks twinpower. This was done and 103 sonoco race gas. He is getting full boost by 3800-4000 rpm. Hope this info helps someone.

Did he have the short- or long-runner manifold?

They are fairly low numbers for that turbo. What kind of dyno? May have been a VERY safe tune.

Here's my review on the kit. The quality itself is very nice, but the fitment is very tight. Much better quality welds and transitions between the sections of the pipe than some of the competitor's kits. The kit was more complete as well. Installation is actually easy once you figure out what order everything has to be bolted together in. We changed the hose going to the heater core and routed it a different way than the kit suggested. Will post pics soon.

If memory serves me right, I think it is the longer running mani. The dyno was a dyno jet. When I spoke to his tuner, he said that he was a little more aggressive with the tune because he was running race gas. He said AFR's were kept between 10.8-11.1's.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I take any feedback and constantly use it to update and make the product better. I changed out the oil drains recently, the fitment and alignment sits better as well as being braided and lined.
