Single or V8 please help

Ok I have a 93 rx7 stock and I have plans for it but idk if I should go v8 or single? I went to the v8 powered section and read on it even posted. What I want to know is why should I go single and stay away from the dark side (v8 lol). I want to stick to rotary but the LS engine is tempting. I can make 400-500 horsepower and still get 25 highway and not break a sweat making it to 100,000 miles. Rotary on the other hand seems I can't. Can someone shine some light on the single set up? Pros and cons on the single and v8 please. I want to make the right choice before I commit.

What is your budget? Just know if you go single you will need a new ecu, most likely new fuel setup, turbo, manifold, wastegates, intercooler, probably new clutch, someone to tune your car. A NA V8 is always going to be more reliable than a turbo rotary, you will get great gas mileage as well. If you are worried about gas mileage and being reliable I would go V8, but just remember it can be expensive. I personally was on the fence as well not too long ago and decided to keep the rotary. My car is only a weekend car so I don't care about gas mileage. In the end you should go what with your gut feeling. Also you have to remember this is a rotary forum, so you will probably get some biased feedback as most of us are rotary.

Well it's my everyday car, and I'm kind of looking for an excuse to stay rotary but it does seem like LS is the way to go. And my budget I know ill probably end up spending like 10-15k (over a few years) but i plan to keep this car. But once again it's my everyday car. Anyone have a single set up and drive it everyday? Any problems? How long do they last? And what do I expect, etc etc. lol

The reliability of a 400hp+ single turbo 13b can vary greatly just as any other highly modified engine. An LSxx v8 at 400 hp is a stock to mild build, so of course it will be more reliable.

If you had two rx7's both having 400 hp but one single turbo and the other ls....which is faster? I know gearing has quite a bit to do with it but having a stock tranny from rx7 and just like a t-56 in the ls what is better? To me I always feel like the v8's have just too short of gears like they're thrown a little too quick and no top end. Rx7 you can cruise at 120mph and the car be ok but with an ls it would be revved too high right?
