Single Turbo Running Temp's

I searched the archives and couldn't find anything on it so I figured i'd start a thread to see what temperatures people were averaging on their single turbo's.

I drove my car down to school today (fd3 w/gt40r) Had to sit in traffic for a good 20 min and got up to 101Celsius on my commander. But as long as I keep it under 4K it stays at 95C. And on the freeway cruisin it sits at 86C.

Keep in mind it was hot today in Northridge CA.

So post them up guys!!!

That is hot, but not too abnormal for a scorching hot day sitting in traffic. Just dont boost it while its like that and youll be fine.

Yea, I stay out of the powerband pretty much entirely at higher temps like that...

I told myself If it ever got over 105C i'd shut her off....

No, do you have the stock fan setting? What temp does the fans come on? Stock fans work great and I dont think getting new fans are going to help at all. I wouldnt turn off the car either if it hits 105C. Pull over and pop the hood. If you turn it off the car will heat soak and get even hotter.

The fan comes on early already. But my thermostat is stock..

Also, should I do an AST Delete? ....know it's a slightly different topic but...

Stock fans are more than sufficient, just use a datalogit to have them come on sooner. Mine come on around 89 degrees.

In the current NE weather my FD runs between 87 and 90 pretty much all the time on the street.

Fluidyne (an ancient one, from like 1999), deleted AST, Chadwick idler pulley, R1 oil coolers, TB coolant deleted.

Btw, those without an undertray should get one. You're asking for trouble.

I see 85-90 year round with a RE v-mount and fans adjusted with datalogit and R1 oil coolers. Thats with the v-mount mostly unducted and running an under panel with lots of holes to allow airflow thru the radiator.

My fans come on around 87-90 now. With an undertray. Drove down to LA today......never got over 89. I'm gonna do an AST Delete after Seven Stock sat, and Flush my system.

If you adjust the fan temps with a Datalogit and then install an FC thermoswitch, your fans can come on at 86 or 87 C (low speed) then increase speed at 95 C. Furthermore, the FC thermoswitch will make the aftercool function come on much more frequently for when the car heatsoaks.

100* in traffic is what a mate of mine was getting on a stock fd. Recently he switched to a front mount intercooler only and now has no overheating problems in traffic. The car must have been constantly sucking heat soaked air from the standard intercooler in traffic. my 2c

Just got back from seven stock..... No overheating really. Put 3/4 of a bottle of water wetter in there last night......I think it really did help. I drove 230 miles today,....much of it over 95degrees F. The car ran great!!
