Single turbo with no coolant cooler?
Would a single turbo which is only oil cooled and does not need any coolant lines hooked up result in the FD running cooler as the coolant is not being used to cool the turbo compared to the twins?
I am sorry if this has been asked before.
Thanks

^^Agreed.
If anything you'll need to make sure you have at least the R1/R2 twin oil coolers.
Also, the proper way to delete the oem turbo coolant feed/return nipples off the water pump housing is to have them removed and welded over. I've seen instances where a 'professional' shop just looped the two nipples with hose which was almost touching the turbo manifold. After less than 1000 miles the hose was already crispy and failure-prone.

^^Right, but using heat sleeving goes a long way, along with routing lines away from the heat sources where possible. Plus 'loop lines' are needless points of failure and should be eliminated where possible IMO
that said, it's easy to point fingers and i am quite sure i have done a few things that someone thought to themselves "what an idiot move". hindsight is 20/20 so i try not to condemn everyone for being human.
