Single turbo mod to stock 93 R1

I was getting intermitten turbo/non-turbo. Pulled the turbos and found cracks in turbo ports where it mates up to the exhaust manifold, and the gaskets were blown at the exhaust manifold. I've been told it is more expensive to rebuild or replace the twins, so I've opted for a single turbo package.

Beyond overall cost, my biggest concern is low-end torque for off-the-line street performance. I've been told a T3/T4 with injector upgrades and manual boost control will work with my stock fuel setup.

Any help out there???

It is far more expensive to do a single turbo than rebuilding or replacing you twins. However if you have other problems with your twins than it can become close to equal. Rebuilt twins don't like to last that long either. Most people on a budget just get a set of good used twins, usually in the $400 range. A set of new replacements from the 99+ car is in the $2600 range.

Low end torque won't suffer if you have a good single turbo setup. A smaller turbo can come on just as fast as the stock twins. Large ports in conjuction with a big turbo kill the bottom end.
You will need a ecu, clutch, fuel pump and intercooler to go along with the single.

The twins have been replaced once already with only 60k original miles on the car. I opted for the single swap...T3 T4 turbo, waste gate, blow-off valve, intake, exhaust manifold, 3" down pipe, no cat, no muffler, 3" straight exhaust, injectors, manual boost controller.

BNR stage 3's might be a better way to go. You will also have some fabrication issues with a single, depending on your intercooler setup.
