Exclamation Single Turbo Kit Help ... (Kuwait)

hi guys,

i`m Ahmed from kuwait, new 1993 FD3S owner, my car is stock (no porting) and I want to build a reliable 450-500RWHP daily driver that can achieve its HP on 98oct. GAS.

i have problem in choosing single turbo kit for my car, and i need your help in choosing the best one please

i have three choice now and they are all in the same price:

1. HKS 800HP T51R KAI turbo kit, i really like this kit but the problem is the kit from japan (RHD) and the saler is not sure and ask me to post threat to ask you guys if this kit can fit in my american spec (LHD) RX7, i mean dose the HKS kit can be used in both RHD and LHD or its only for japanis RHD RX7s ?, link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-H...spagenameZWDVW

2. GT500R tubo kit, my friend in kuwait want me to buy this kit but when i called A-spec tunning they told me your engine should has porting to get your HP, and i ask them about the GT40R and GT42R they told me they will be laggy if the engine is not ported, link:

http://www.a-spectuning.com/products.htm#turbokits

3. i make a custome turbo kit using turbonetics GT-K 1000 turbo, HKS headers, Turbonetics Turbocharger Racegate Wastegate Kit, and custom down pipe ?

by the way my car has HKS downpipe, HKS 3" catback, intercooler, clutch and flywheel, shifter, fuel system, welbro 255 fuel pump, big injectors (not sure about the size), two MSD, E 6 X HALTICH, Greddy pulleys and Greddy boost and fuel pressure gauges

please please guys help me choosing cause i get confusing

thanks alot guys

You're better off with the 500r kit. You'll never spool on stock ports with a Kai...

I "believe" the HKS kit only comes in one form, it fits both RHD and LHD. If that is the kit you really really want then buy it. Whats the worst that can happen? You'd have to pull the motor and get it ported...

We ran a friends car at 1.5bar boost on a stock motor with a T7829d, the boost came on lateish, but had the power.
I'd just order one of the Greddy kits from Japan if I was you, very well made and designed.

guys i need a turbo kit with fast respond not a laggy turbo just open at the end

and come on 450-500 HP isn`t that much power, its a rotary engine i thought when i buy my RX7 that with rotory engine its more easrier to spole big turbo than piston engine

i use to have 2004 NISSAN 350Z with twin turbo kit and i get easy 520 RWHP on dyno

You are on stock ports. Go with the 500R, it will give you the best response out of all the ones you listed.

A rotory will spool bigger turbos easier, with the right porting. But you are on STOCK ports. So buy the 500R.

You will be able to make that power with a single turbo on a rotary... But you may need water injection for safety.

LoL! I love how you make it seem like such a easy and trivial fix. Looks like he doesn't want to port it either.

The issue you face is getting the turbo you need, for the power you want, to give the response you're after. You wont get all three to work on stock ports.

450-500whp on stock ports means high pressure ratio's(boost).

High boost on pump gas is not a good idea.

Running a larger turbo to get you closer to your power goal means you give up response and due to stock ports you still will need to run somewhat high pressure ratio's.

This leaves only a few options...

Run stock ports on pump gas with a responsive turbo and get high 300's to low 400's and be happy with the response.

Run stock ports on pump gas with a larger turbo and get mid 400's and deal with the lag.

Neither of those two meet your power goal of upper 400's to 500whp.

The third and best option is do the motor work, run a mid-framed turbo get mid to upper 400's or a larger framed turbo and be in the 500's.

You can't have fast spool, big power, and stock ports on pump gas.

Go with the apexi isamu rx6 kit, Spools insanly fast almost as fast as the stock turbos and on a car with a proper tune can make 450whp

Not on stock ports, on pump gas with moderate boost levels it wont, he is running a stock motor.

It makes 400whp @15 psi with the right tune, Ive seen a stock port motor on pump gas make 380 whp with this turbo and could still be tuned for more.

That's fine, but 380whp or even 400whp is far from 450-500whp which is what he is after. 380whp@15psi on stock ports can be done for less money better warranty and possibly better response with a 3574. We got 386@13psi on stock reman and ebay SMIC. Boost response was equivalent to a 35R.

450+whp on stock ports on pump gas with moderate boost levels (I believe he wants to stay around 18psi) and responsive is going to be a hard goal to reach.

I'm in the process of rebuilding and just had my rotary rebuilt with a mild street port from a well know local and rotors were sent out to be 3mil at atkins, and I too would like to achieve 450 to 550 can anyone recommend a single turbo that will produce results.

Boost level? Primary use of vehicle? There is a ton of stuff on this covered already. spend some time reading through it.
